A couple of thoughts about the comments on the site.

It does not take 8 months to prep a race vehicle for a race, unless it's a new 4 wheeler.

As to prerunning, only in Baja is prerunning allowed. Neither SCORE nor BITD do prerunning in the U.S. They have what's called course reconnaissance which is a controlled group drive to let you know where your going on the race course. This 250 course is not new to anyone who has raced in Baja. It's the same sections used every year in either the 500 or 1000 race.

The real problems with changing the course are the logistics of setting up pits and hotel rooms. Pits should not be much of a problem as to location, manning them is the real issue because of the single loop of the race. There are a lot more hotel rooms in Ensenada than San Felipe. Score has provided help in cancelling the San Felipe rooms if you need it.

The losers are the businesses in San Felipe. Personally I think not running the race helps the course for next year and maybe get those involved to settle their problems before the 1000. If they don't the 1000 will go down the pacific side and again San Felipe will lose.

Notes on the race name...

It was the 'San Felipe 250' previous even though Mexican made t shirts have called it the Baja 250 in the past. Before it was the San Felipe 250, it was the Mexicali 250 (anyone remember that from the late 70's?).... Before SCORE came to Baja in 1974, it was the Hotel Lucerna 250!

The author of this rant says "because of many things wanted given to them for free" score officials have to move the race. BS.......
Then he says that many people are boycoting the race because they feel "score should have done a better job, and worked harder early on".
WHAT!

SCORE is the group bringing (estimtaes of) 5-7 million $ into this town for the race week. The holdouts of san felipe blew it. Hopefully the affected people of San Felipe (most all of them) know who screwed the town out of their cash, and they deal with these people.
