Mexican Flag Photos

I am always amazed at the size of the Mexican flag in Ensenada (near the three heads that we call Manny, Moe and Mack). I bet there are lots of good photos to share. I took this one from the courtyard of a small motel located on the main drag in Ensenada. The flag is probably over a 1/2 mile away, but it still looks so huge!

Ken, the colors in your flag photo are great - and the wind is blowing nicley to display them.

On the big Ensenada flag - I was there once when they were changing it out. The actually have TWO of those flags. While one is flying the other one is being cleaned and repaired. I think they rotate them every couple of months. The military does it. It takes a team of about 25 guys to change it out. It's quite a show to see this. Especially if the wind is blowing. They don't want the flag to touch the ground, so they all line up as they are lowering and raising the flag to avoid this. I've seen the wind pick up and actually lift a couple of guys off the ground.

Thanks for sharing your flag photo.
Bob H

I'm sorry I don't have a picture of this after reading about the military trying to keep the flag off the ground. My wife and I were northbound and waiting behind several other cars at the reten just north of San Ignacio when I noticed a soldier having a mighty game of tug of war with a large example of a local dog. As we rolled a little closer, it became clear that the red white and green rag that was the "toy" also included an image of a bird with a snake in its mouth!

Lots of witnesses, zero fear of court martial.:?:

Bajaguy, that is incredible!

Paulina, it's amazing the color of the African Gray Parrot's tail and the flag are almost identical!

Cardon, very interesting details at the base of that huge flag pole. I never noticed that.

Bajacat, nice shot from out in the water. It really shows the size of this particular flag!

Unreal!

Looks like the palm trees in the background in the first picture have more fronds than in the second, and one palm on the left might even be gone...suggesting different times.

Plus, there are different color umbrellas on the second story balcony.

But, it's still amazing to have two shots from almost the same exact spot.

This was taken in Guadalajara the day before Dia de Independencia. They do know how to celebrate that holiday there.

I was thinking the same thing. Even if it is the same umbrella, it's tilted to the side in my photo. Plus, it was very cloudy and overcast that whole day and it's clear and sunny in Bajaguy's shot.

Eagle Monument at BCS border

I have to add a note. The first time I drove down to BCS, as I went by the Eagle Monument I saw a nest on the monument (a big nest). We got the biggest kick out of that. Here is a monument of a Bird of Prey in the middle of nowhere and a bird of prey sets up camp there. Of course, years later we found out that just down the road there are dozens of Osprey nests, which that nest most certainly was. But at the time it seemed so magical. I love Baja!!!
