Loreto News
I just saw a copy of a new monthly(?) newspaper - "Loreto News". It's bilingual, but seems to be addressed mainly at visitors & ex-pats, rather
than Mexican locals. I haven't seen The Gringo Gazette in a while. Did this paper replace The Gringo Gazette?
Didn't have time to read it before moving on. What do people think about this newspaper?

Seems mostly for visitors. Written in Spanish with translations in English. No real hard news; there was a story on water that made no sense, other
than meters have been ordered. Lots of first-time visitor fluff.
I think the Gazette is still being published but not distributed in Loreto, and the Loreto pages are no longer in it.

Its not a "news" paper for sure. Really not sure just what they are trying to do with it. Nothing much of local interest and the balance can be found
in any one of a dozen tourist flyers and booklets.

Who's the publisher? May be published by LB people - like some kind of neighborhood news crap, trying to unMexicanize Loreto. Do they have one of
their sales promotion trips coming up?

The issue I'm holding in my hands states on the cover page that it's a "Bilingual Tourist Magazine".

As a matter of fact, starting today. Had a streetsweeper, or some other kind of heavy equipment, in front of my house at 1.30 this morning cleaning
up. I think the operator was lucky. No guns allowed in Mexico.

As someone who may buy space in the new rag, it gives me a headache to read it. So not sure if it will pay off as it may have this effect on others
too! I guess its for tourists and the copy makes no sense, true I think for
the high season it may work out but we'll see for the rest of the year. The GG is still in business but its targeted at los Cabos. I did advertize
in it for a few months but wasn't happy with the results so I pulled my ads. Shortly afterward the Loreto section disappeared. There was also the
fact that the GG was not distributed well in Loreto which was my main concern. The Loreto News is its own publication and brand new. They're not
very good about keeping office hours though.
