Governor in Bahia Asuncion
Ya gotta love a governor who wears jeans to an inauguration and political gathering!!
It was a big day in Asuncion yesterday as the governor visited our humble village with a huge entourage to inaugurate the new boxing ring donated by
them....to announce 7 km more of pavement....and to present the deeds to 4 new government funded little houses for underpriveledged families. About
half the village was in attendance due to a competing baseball game at the stadium...Naturally there was lots of hoopla and fanfare, the governer
Agundez and Municipal President made the rounds shaking hands and kissing ladies and the local band played and made it known that the wonderful
government helped them buy their equipment and there were lots of fine speeches about how the existing government was helping the municipio de Mulege.
New hospital in Mulege, 2 other boxing rings, housing, etc, etc....weedy weedy (yadda yadda in english). They heard petitions for help with the kids
soccer team, reconditioning the basketball court, finish the road and promised to do so...basically it was a "look at all the goodies you have
received over the last 2 years and if you want more....make SURE you vote for us again!" the music was not too bad and the kids did a nice little
punch up in the fancy new ring.
What didn't get inaugurated and what we were all hoping for was the new cell tower to start functioning...there was rumor that there would be a great
deal on phones etc. at the inauguration so everyone was hoping for that....NOT! Not even a mention...nor was there a question period....just alot of
back slapping. Anyway, it was a nice day and we all had proud sh#t eating grins when all the politicians said that our new boulevard with all the
awesome flowers, roses, bougenvillias, trees etc....was the nicest in all baja!!! entirely due to the care of the local villagers. A real feel good
day...but I heard that you cant drive on the blacktop yet! darn.

You may want to avoid Sta.Rosalia as it will be insane with traffic on tuesday as the governer will be there for the "informe" which is like a big
deal...a huge gathering to let the public know what the government is doing for them and maybe going to do if they remain in power...fanfare...tons of
people...we got invitations delivered to our door and had to sign a sheet saying we received it and get this....they are giving everyone who goes a
free tank of gas and 1,000 pesos spending money for food and accomodation...so sad...I'd prefer the government to spend this $$$ with food baskets for
the poor or fixing up roads, the health clinic or other worthy projects....imagine the pesos spent just to make sure lots of people show up to this
rally!!! I imagine they offer the same deal to all the fishing communities in the municipio???Thats a crapload of dinero.... Nuts.

That new boxing ring looks quite fancy! It looks perfect for Luchador Libre events!

Oh no, like 95% of the village is totally baseball NUTS but like me, lots got wiind of the possibility of some free cell phones so only went to the
first game in the morning...they play double headers on sundays. Also because there were 4 families involved in the housing thing...that covers about
half the village...all their extended family members went to see them get their deed from the Governor...plus I noticed it was mostly women there,
except for the boxers...this particular governer is tall and dashing and love to kiss the ladies!!!Tee Hee

why not get a van full of folks together and go get the $. then give it out to those you know could really use it? your costs would be minimally
spread between the group and the payoff to the pobres would be great!
or maybe a penn reel?
just a thought!

Yes Susan, he appears to be a very good governor and Pedro Osuno, our municiple president is an honourable man indeed who actually cares about his
constituents. This municipio went forgotton for many years, particularly the small fishing villages and in the last few years we have experienced lots
of positive changes and finally received some long overdue government assistance to bring these villages new opportunities. Sta.Rosalia will be rockin
today...enjoy the party!

And for Loreto....
He says they will pave the road to San Javier! (The first 3 K are done).
They will build a new pier for the cruise liners!
Our new bridge over the arroyo is among the largest being built, and the fastest being built. And the one with the most detour signs, including
ELECTRIC signs!
Unidos Vamos Por Mas
But all in all, I'll pass on calling him a "good governor."

mmmhm well yesterday he cut the ribbon on a new basket ball/soccer/lots of other things stadium and he kept us there until 4!!! i was late for work
and had to walk back to school where i kept the car since i asked if i should take it and the teachers said no we would be back by 2:30 so her ei am
walking back with blasting sand and wind and i wore the skirt uniform so you can imagine the long walk...ay ay ay but i got something good out of it
since hence the big political thing today in sta. rosalia all the teachers went so i had most of the day of school we went to the park and hung out
with some friends for a while then went home to eat yumm yumm...and i'd say he is one of the best governors this state has ever had...but it's true
that very few political ppl are only in it for "the people" boohoo but i guess we have to take what they are willing to give and embrace it with open
arms 'cause we don't know when we'll get some more...lol...
peace!!!!

I agree that this seems expensive and unnecessary. I would not feel this way if he and his entourage were flying in to inaugurate new hospitals,
sewer projects, public schools and universities. Boxing ring???
But I know he is respected and there is hope for better things in the future. Politics require staying in touch with your constituents and having
their support to stay the course (I hate to use that phrase) and give the man and his party a fair chance to make some real progress. The nice
people of Baja deserve quality progress for their lives and not for Donald Trumps bank account.

I agree on the wasted expenses as his entourage was HUGE...however coming here 3 or 4 times a year now has really won this party strong support in
this area of the coast...the people LOVE these events....an added note on the deal our villagers were offered to go to Sta.Rosalia...everyone was
excited and making plans to go (with the full tank of gas and 1000 pesos to spend) but at the mero hora...at blast off time....they only gave a few
litres of gas and no $$$! Needless to say most of the locals stayed home yesterday and enjoyed a lovely day without politics.

“Yea Baby”!!!
I saw her today at the reception
A glass of wine in her hand
I knew she was gonna meet her connection
At her feet was a footloose man
You cant always get what you want
You cant always get what you want
You cant always get what you want
But if you try sometimes well you might find
You get what you need
And I went down to the demonstration
To get my fair share of abuse
Singing, were gonna vent our frustration
If we dont were gonna blow a 50-amp fuse
You cant always get what you want
You cant always get what you want
You cant always get what you want
But if you try sometimes well you just might find
You get what you need
I went down to the chelsea drugstore
To get your prescription filled
I was standing in line with mr. jimmy
And man, did he look pretty ill
We decided that we would have a soda
My favorite flavor, cherry red
I sung my song to mr. jimmy
Yeah, and he said one word to me, and that was dead
I said to him
You cant always get what you want
You cant always get what you want
You cant always get what you want
But if you try sometimes you just might find
You get what you need
You get what you need--yeah, oh baby
I saw her today at the reception
In her glass was a bleeding man
She was practiced at the art of deception
Well I could tell by her blood-stained hands
You cant always get what you want
You cant always get what you want
You cant always get what you want
But if you try sometimes you just might find
You just might find
You get what you need
You cant always get what you want
You cant always get what you want
You cant always get what you want
But if you try sometimes you just might find
You just might find
You get what you need
"yea baby"

He's coming here Saturday. I'm not sure what we want out of the deal. His people expect/have arranged for 2,000 people to "make a show". The DIF
ladies will be busy Friday night preparing 2,000 ham sandwiches. 2K is just about our whole town. Don't really know who the sandwiches are for
because most of my Mexican neigbors have never eaten a ham sandwich. Here, close to La Paz, Los Cabos, no gas and probably no $$. All the gringos
will make nice because we owe him -- he came down here and cut into our local crime quick and deep -- replaced some judges, police and literally had
the black shirts pick up all the known bad guys, put em on the run.
