Tacoma Supension Upgrade
This looks like an interesting simple upgrade for the Tacoma that would allow at least an LT305 series tire or bigger. David K should try it and let
me know how it works.

Keeping with Skyjacker’s design for the earlier Tacoma’s, Skyjacker® has developed a 2.5"-3" Suspension lift for the NEW ´05-´06 Tacoma 2WD/4WD. The
lift features Platinum Series front coil-over shocks with 2" outside diameter, 15" Softride® coil springs and all the necessary mounting hardware. The

I was hoping to not lift the truck, the 265/70-16 tires are fine, the suspension issue is only the rear, which bottoms when hitting bumps with people
in the back seat or a load in the bed.

The added leafs only are used with loads so highway comfort is not lost.
Thanks for posting what you did Tom... What if anything are you thinking of doing to your Tacoma?

A couple of weeks ago I had an add a leaf put in by a local shop. When they showed me the leaf I thought it looked like it had too much arch. When the
mechanic was ready to put it in he said it would raise my rear 2 inches. I told him I didn't want that much since I wasn't doing anything for the
front. So he took some of the arch out, that left a 1 inch rise in the rear which doesn't look too bad. With a heavy load it works great. However I
have noticed the ride is rougher. I think a shorter overload spring would have been better. One that would work only under a load. My GMC add a leaf
from ORW in San Diego had hardly no arch in it.
I'm thinking of buying a new Tacoma to replace my 93 Toyota this fall when the 2008s come out. If so I'm thinking maybe the Skyjacker kit so I can put
the LT305 tires on it. But I would like to talk to someone who has used it first.

Keep the ideas flowing....just got rid of my 93 Tacoma 4X4 and got an '07 TRD Tacoma. Wow, things have really improved (but truck is larger).
Nothing at all wrong with the '93, it has taken me anywhere I want to go, but after driving the new one it was time to change. I remember David using
the locking Dif on "Mission Impossible" so now it's time for another trip! Sure rides nicely and the "access cab" opens up the back.

My opinion, a 32" tire is just fine for the Baja backcountry. With a taller tire, you'll have to regear your differentials, you'll spend more $$ on
gasoline, for just a little better performance on the dirt trails.

Hey David K....
A 2.5"-3" lift is hardly anything at all. I don't think you would even notice it that much. But, it would make your awesome Toyota look even cooler.

Baja Xplorer got the All-Pro Off Road CoilOver system and then put a Deaver Leaf pack to offset his emergency "cerveza" safety equipment...and I've
heard it works well.

The Toyota web site says for a V6 it's 3.73. The stock tire is a LT265/70R16 which is a 30.6inch diameter. An LT305/75R16 is a 34inch tire and 11.1%
increase in circumference. With a speedometer reading 60 you'll be doing 66.7mph. That's the results I have on my 93 Toyota when I went from the stock
tire to 31x10.50. At 60 I'm doing 66. Mine is not the SR5 model which came with 31x10.50 tires back then. With an LT315/75R16 which is a 34.6inch tire
the change is 13.1%. With the speedometer at 60 your doing 67.8mph. With the power in that V6 and the 5 speed automatic I don't think you would need a
change in the rear. I can tell you from my experience the 4 liter V6 is light years faster than the 3 liter V6 in my 93.

I now run 33" tires with 4.10 gears, and everything works just fine with that gear ratio on the street...

My 07 Tacoma V6 automatic with stock 265 tires is 2000rpm at 70mph.

88' Toyota 4x4 with 33" BFG's on its whole life. Never even hit 5th gear the entire time I've owned it. Oh well, it's a 4 speed.
For offroad, I am in low range and use all of the gears.
Haven't had a bad trip yet....
