Baja 500 Map
SCORE will have the map posted Monday the 14th.
Looking at the BFG pit locations it appears the course will be similar to the 01 and 02 race course at least from Ojos back to Ojos. BFG will pit at
Jamau off hwy3 at RM103. On the San Telmo Rd 17 miles from hwy1 at RM 186 and at LLano Colorado near hwy 1 at RM 281. Indications are that the loop
thru Mikes will cross the Observatory Rd and pass Santa Cruz looping back across the Observatory Rd (near the BFG pit) and back to Trinidad and out to
Hwy1.

Looks like a couple of new sections. From Uruapan back to hwy 3. Also not sure when they last used the section from hwy 3 K19 toward Ojos. I'm ready
to do a little prerunning.

Paul your section has it all. If you've never been on the section thru Santa Cruz, you'll love it. For any chase people going in there, the race
course comes out of Mike's onto the Observatory Rd (SCORE calls it the San Telmo Rd) ar RM156. On the Rd the sign says R. La Jolla. The property is
part of the Meling ranch. Attached is the almanac map.

There are 464 entries for this race. At the rate they are signing up it may top 500 by race day. Ensenada will be a zoo.

["Among the female co-riders are Nancy Emde (Class 50)"]
Now that really impresses me. I assume she is from the famous Emde racing family.

The time limit has been changed to 20 hours. Maybe it rougher than expected for some vehicles.

It hit me while driving this morning......
the race is about 400 miles, divided by 20 hours..... a 20 mph average...... is this for more publicity of the rhinos? Or is it for the expected
traffic delays due to so many vehicles on the corse?

Every 15 seconds will sure help get the race going with so many entrants... Good decision. In the 'old days' it was one per minute.
For the newbies to Off Road Racing, you are racing the clock, not other racers for the fastest time over the course. The first racer across the finish
line isn't necessarily the winner. The 20 hour time limit includes whatever time you spend out on the course such as pitting (fueling, etc.), repairs,
tire changes, nature calls, etc. Even though some of the racers will get up to 100 miles per hour or more, the average time for the fastest bikes and
race trucks, buggies is in the 50's to low 60's MPH... because stops are included in the average race speed... as well as the really slow sections.
Also, each class is only competing for prize money with others in the same class.. it's like several races going on the same day. There are some
bonuses for ovelall motorcycle and overall four wheeled racecar, however.
