San Felipe 1980 Beach Parties!
Ok, I was talking with some buddies today and we were discussing our trips down to San Felipe around 1980 during spring break. Those that use to go
do you remember all the college students that use to sleep on the beach in just sleeping bags?? I mean in group of 12-30 and from many of the
colleges not only in California but Arizona, New Mexico, and even Texas. A lot of people also stayed at Ruben's camp just outside a ways from the
main city bars. We met everyone in the bars at night or at the El Cortez Hotel when we went for breakfast. The local cops were pretty easy going and
$20 dollars could usually buy your friends out of most local trouble with the cops (everything within reason here) and everyone partied together
college kids, married couples, singles, and retirees that lived around the area. It just seems that those days ,as we say are gone, as people do not
do these things like they use to in open sleeping bags due to the way things have changed in life. Too bad as the times always had funny things going
on and hardly any real bad things happened, those were good times !! Last but not
least the shrimp tacos, shrimp c-cktails, and shrimp omeletes were great with our cold beer at breakfast which usually was about 10:30 am. Ah, the simple things in life at little or no cost, now most
people only want hotels and different groups do not intermingle like they did then or is it that I am looking at things differently now ??? Later, bajafun777

In the haze of those memories from about '71, I recall a local guy with a camp between SF and Los Puertecitos who frequently used a "Spanglish
Creation" as greeting/punctution. It sounded something like running together all-of-my-garnas. "Allamagarnas". I'm sure he didn't use it just with
us. Does anyone remember this old character? He was quite patient with our antics...but that WAS good business.
