Don't know the Arctic Fox unit specifics but we have hauled our old HEAVY 9.5' pick-up camper with our '94 F250 and our '04 F350. Both trucks have standard (or close) suspensions with air bags in the rear. Surprisingly, the air bags' greatest benefit is stopping sway as the F350 will hold the weight without them. I rarely use more than 25 psi in the air bags unless I am also towing something heavy in addition to the camper.

Those Michelins are the best tires I have ever owned. Over 55K miles on my F250 !! Great road control and stable side wall performance although they're not the best for traction in sand/dirt.

Used to have a Lance 9.5 on my f-250. No problem without the air assist.

George, you should have no trouble, it is not a bad idea to have the airbags on the rear. Don't make the mistake of putting shock stabilizers from the cab over down to the area below your windshield, they sort of work on smooth highways, but will not work on the dirt roads you drive on to get to Abreojos. I have a Lance on a D250 Dodge and it goes everywhere, just do not expect that it will drive like an empty truck, but after driving from the tip of Baja to the tip of Alaska, I really know why turtles, who carry their home on their back, are always smiling.

I've got a Lance 9'6" on my Dodge 3500, the dealer said I should get air bags for rear, not really needed, the camper just levels out the truck.

Boy, am I glad you mentioned that, Jim. I was all set to go out and get a set of struts from Lance, based on some talk over on an RV discussion board. But those boys were only using them on pavement.

What happens...........do they heat up too much offroad and fail?

George, I have an older Lance 4000 (9'4") that, loaded, weighs about 2500 and it just levels out my F350 ride with no air bags. I am single rear wheel, 4wd. Running the same tires.

What does the Arctic Fox weigh, wet?

When we got our Lance, the dealer said the struts were designed to dampen front to rear bounce like you get on the 5 freeway. He said they could damage the camper frame when use offroad and pulled both sideways & forward/backward. He said it would be easy to compress or extend them beyond their reach in offroad situations.
