Ham turns 9

Ham, my beloved Baja pup turned 9 today! I picked her up as an (approximately) 8 week old stray street dog in Bahia de los Angeles when I was there for a few months doing sea turtle research.

She definately loves the snow more than the hot desert sand!

short and sweet: i had her in one of the little markets in Bahia and the daughter of the owner was playing with the pup who is now Ham. i was going to name her Orejas because of her magnificent ears. well, while the little girl was playing with Orejas, the pup yawned and her tiny pink tongue stuck out. the little girl said "her tongue looks like a little piece of ham."

from that moment on we all started calling the pup the 'Little Ham' ... and now she's the Mighty Ham living the life of luxery...
