July 4th to 8th, Where should I go?
Okay, well. I'm headed to baja for four days. I am coming from Phoenix and I want to chill on some nice beaches, swim and relax. I know San Felipe,
and then pacific side okay down to vincente. Basically anywhere the baja 500 course has gone in the last several years, but I have not just gone for
fun. THIS will be the first time! WOohoo!
In 4 days do I dare head all the way to the pacific side or will I be rushed?
If I head down past San Felipe, what is there to see south of there? Good beaches to stop at etc?
I want to stop in puertocitos, but where else should i try and go and how far south is it worth trying to go?
Help Help. I would love some of you experienced folks. THANK YOU!

soaz -from AZ huh? well, yur like me, want to escape the heat.
i can tell you we drove to San Quintin once from here, phx/Snottsdale and did it in 3 nites RT, that was pushing it but we were casing lots so had to
go.
forget the SF and south zones, incredibly hott!!!!!!!!!
your best bet is head to the socal coast on I-8 then go south to ensenada hit the local beaches there, eat some lobsters and drive back up thru tecate
and avoid the RIDCULOUS time wasting border entry hassle at TJ.

I go from Phoenix all the time. Cross at Tecate and head south to Ensenada; those nice cool Pacific breezes will set you right immediately. Do not
stop for a tourist card or anything, but you might want to buy Mexican insurance.
Man, I've never actually stopped in Ensenada...I usually just keep going!
I don't think Baja really starts until San Quintin, the delicious roadside mariscos stands, and the hotels under $30. Time it right to get to Cielito
Lindo's happy hour at 4PM and meet the locals who will tell you the good spots nearby.
Lots of driving, though.
I agree that the Gulf (Sea of Cortez) side will be hot, muggy and miserable.

MEXICAN AUTO INSURANCE

This is not an option.
Get in an accident without it.
Probable jail, possible loss of vehicle.
Don't even consider auto/motorcycle travel in Mexico without auto insurance, including roadside assistance and legal aid.

Hahaha! I was all over utah, lake powell and the colorado last weekend.
I thought this was a baja forum!!
hahaha!
I go to mex all the time for racing and I ALWAYS get the insurance.
Okay so I'm might head down through tecate and into ensenada, which is too busy for me so then down to santo tomas and then the 500 course to the
beach. Head down the beach south and pick a spot to chill.
Where is a nice place to free dive, spear fish, hang out etc down there?????

Soaz, my glib comment about Powell was just to say that with the short time period you have, Baja doesnt make alot of sense to me.
Certainly with your latest requests about free-diving, etc. the S o C is definitely out. No good visibility till BOLA and that would be two long days
driving.
If I were you, I'd go to San Carlos and hang out . Pay for someone to take you to San Pedro for some diving. Water and beaches will be better than
anything you will see until you got to BCS.
Where in southern Az are you?
