Ensenada Surfrider Chapter
This past Saturday, members of the National and San Diego chapters of the Surfrider Foundation met with surfers from Ensenada to help get a chapter
started there. We had a carne asada, surfed and discussed the environmental issues of the area and put together a game plan to help get the chapter
going.
If you don't already know, there are plans being put into place that propose a breakwater that would extend south from the point at San Miguel to
accomodate a new port. This would effectively destroy one of the best pointbreaks on the west coast, and the surfers in the area are not happy about
it.
As it stands, surfers already lost Harry's to the development of the LNG plant south of Bajamar, and access to Salsipuedes may also be lost to the
development there.
If there are any surfers down in Baja or here in the U.S. that want to get involved, please send me a U2U and I will put you in touch with the chair
of the Ensenada chapter.

The problem with surfrider is they have gotten away from just protecting surf spots to becoming a political mouthpiece that supports fishing closures
and other measures that have nothing to do with surfing, thats why the founder ouit. I support saving surf spots but not surfrider.

Copy that. They went too left wing for me, so after decades of our support, we pulled out. Water quality and surf spots should be their only
concern.
They fight violently to halt off shore drilling while we pay $3+ a gallon for gas and have done nothing to draw attention to, or stop, the
mis-management and mis-appropriation of funds to improve the out dated and decaying sewer infrastructure in our City / County that spewes on a regular
basis which I feel is a far bigger problem to health and safety.

someone should post this thread to their upper management people once the true feeling become apparent!
Geoff's thread seems to be a "wildcoast" issue. anyone heard anything from them?
