LBMAPS GPS autorouting feature
Who has used this feature? Does it work like Garmin's autorouting feature, even for user-created waypoints?
Thinking of purchasing it (I already have the non-autorouting version) .
I've emailed Larry at LBMAPS but no response (yet).

You can download a demo copy, which I've done, but haven't tried it yet.

I received a response from LB and the answer to my question: "Does it work like Garmin's autorouting feature" is NO.
I will stick with my present copy of Navigator.

I was thinking of upgrading to the new Baja Expeditioner just for the autorouting. I wonder how it differs from Garmin's autorouting?

Does it auto route using all the dirt roads it shows? If not, I cant imaging upgrading with an area like Baja where there are so few paved roads
anyway.
Half the fun of exploring Baja is finding your own route on all the paper maps you bring.

I'm with you, Hook. GPS is great, I guess, but it does seem to take some of the mystery and adventure out of things, at least for me. I am a paper
map nut, and they do me just fine.
But, I admit I now have a Garmin GPS just in case, and to pin-point important "places", tho I seldom use it.

Yeah, but does the paper map tell you when to take next turn if you're in no position to look at it?

No, it doesn't.
But it will give you a lot to speculate and wonder about when you realize you are lost (oooops, not lost just confused), and that is kind of fun.
With the darn GPS, YOU AUTOMATICALLY KNOW where you are, and that ain't no fun at all.

If you're in no position to look at it, you're going too fast.
I have a GPS with routing that is invaluable in the States, especially in big cities I'm not that familiar with (like LA or Phoenix). On long distance
travel, though, auto-routing is more like an entertainment feature than a necessity......"HEY, HONEY, WE'RE AVERAGING 68.9 mph on this trip so far"
or, "HEY HONEY, WE'LL ARRIVE AT NOGALES IN 4 HOURS, 23 MINUTES!" This usually draws an eye-roll, of course.
But I love following the paper trails in Mexico. I feel like a REAL explorer...........
