Question for Osprey?

Can I assume all the stories I read posted by you are fiction?

The reason I ask, is that the way you present them seems like they are empirical. IMHO, it is much easier, and entertaining, to write fiction, than factually recall an actual event.

Furthermore, I am growing tired of your disclaimer, after 10 posts that praise you.

Probably most of the posters still on this board are not familiar with the whiskey story.

A grain of truth, is not the truth.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Minnow, What whiskey story?

It's all fiction but I think those who write fiction must take much from their personal experiences (write what you know kinda thing) but for example a story about catching fish one day might be cobbled together from pieces of real life remembrances from 20 fishing trips. The idea is to build some believable character to tell the tale, let him take you along with him. I do all of that instead of "explaining what happened" or "lecturing" because there's more opportunity to inject some drama. Remember I'm just a hobbiest and I sit down to write just out of curiousity -- I want to know what happens, sometimes I want to know how I really feel about something and the exercise is like trying to organize a disgustingly cluttered space.

Minnow, wasn't one of mine. I did post a story about Mexican Whiskey a couple of years ago > Good Mexican Whiskey, Maya Mash 9/10/05. Should I post it again or just let people search?

Versimilitude, baby, that's what it's all about : "1. The quality of appearing to be real or true : LIKELIHOOD. 2. Something appearing to be real or true." Keep it up, George. When's the collection of essays and short stories coming out?
