Sal Announces Baja 1000 Route on SCORE Radio
If you haven’t heard…Sal Announced this route on his radio show…at www.score-radio.com
The start of the race is the same as the 07 Baja 500 to Mike’s and then instead of going left up the gnarly stuff we’re going right and then to El
Coyote and on to San Telmo West and then east behind Meling Ranch and onto Santa Domingo and El Marmol and then Catavina on Hwy 1 until you get to the
Chapala turnoff to Coco's. When you get to Coco’s Corner the race course reverts back to the same as the 06 Baja 1000 all the way to just before La
Paz when you turned left to go to La Paz..instead you go straight to Todos Santos and cross the Hwy before the town and into the mountains and onward
to Cabo. Here’s the basic below.
Race Start: Ensenada, Ojos Negros, Jamau, Valle Trinidad, Mike's Sky Ranch, El Coyote, San Telmo (West), Meling Ranch (East), Santa Domingo, El
Marmol, Catavina (Highway to Chapala), Coco's Corner, Calamajue Wash, LA Bay, El Arco, San Ignacio, El Datil, Scorpion Bay - San Juanico, Loreto, San
Javier, Insurgentes, Constitucion, Santa Rita, Punta Conejo, El Tomate, Todos Santos and Cabo San Lucas.

West Coast sounds right..BUT that is one long and dangerous run from Catavina to Chapala
That would mean about 75 miles of "curvy" pavement, not the best choice?

Adios San Felipe!
Thanks for the course notes Tim!!!
Remember, SCORE has and will make changes to the course when racers and property owners are not happy!
Going through El Marmol will be a new twist... That old road south from Marmol to the old main road near Agua Dulce/ La Virgin is a doozey!

glad to see a pass thru Meling Rancho. easy place to fly in and watch.
but i plan to head for Cabo with maybe a stop at BOLA 1st.
going to be a high fallutin' time in cabo. After 2 back to back 500 wins i look for Ragland and Collins to be in the running strong.

Word is that Sal is going to retire after this 1000.
Also the higher ups in Mexico want to take over and run the whole show. What's your take on that?

Another hit for San Felipe. Well assuming Bajalou has another turkey feast this new years, we'll drop a few coin in town.

We do indeed have another turkey feast planned for Dec 31 at noon here at my place in San Felipe - looking forward to seeing all our old friends and
Nomads and a few new ones too.
Hell, that's less than 6 months away.

Sal y Jorge
Sal's Baja 1000 (future) is also hinged on Jorge's run for top dog on BC Norte.. time will tell if they ride off all smiles together in to the
sunset..

The wife and I will be in your area late August or so. We'll look you up and share a cold one.

First vehicles would be arriving to BOLA at dusk...probably a 10 am Ensenada start line...
R u allowed to fly at night Capt Mike? U must have special military night op orders eh? Lucky Dude...
My estimate is :First 4Wheel Vehicle in Cabo at the soccer field finish line 11 am the following day...25 hours is my guess..mas y menos

naw...no nite ops for me in a single.
if i stop anywhere enroute it will just be for a pee and bev break and see what's happenin at the pits. likely i'll already be at mulege the nite
before the race starts and i'd head to cabo that afternoon late to get reADY for the party.
man we had a blast with da Bull , Brittany and Sergio covering the action at the 2004 la paz finish line from dark till sun up. those Tecate VIP tents
were so easy to get in to.
So Tim we hope we do get to make it and see ya'll there. hang in cabo a few days too, haven't done that since the early 90s.
