Cabo San Lucas - kinda

At last I can post something from Baja. I was in Cabo San Lucas last week from Tuesday through Saturday. It was for a meeting of an engineering group in which I am still active (American Concrete Institute). It was at the Fiesta Americana, which is a pretty spectacular property. I had hoped to make a contact with some Nomads but there just wasn't time. I continue to be amazed at what is happening in both San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas (and the area between the airport and the cities). It was the first time I was there in about ten years, the changes are absolutely staggering. Anyway I managed to wander around the hotel with a camera for awhile:

All Right Ken, your pictures are as always just GREAT!

I know what you mean about the changes coming down in Los Cabos. Everytime I go there my points of reference are blown and I get lost as Los Cabos sprawl begins future North, and the merging of San Jose and Cabo San Lucas is almost complete, it is strarting to look kind of like L.A. to me.

It's been a while...

...since I've been to Cabo. Has it changed much since we sailed into the harbor?

Mike
We passed by a development called Costa Azul, near San Jose del Cabo. I don't recall a Cabo Azul but there is so much development in that area now they all kind of blend together. I'm sure someone else knows...

Cabo Azul is between the Mayan Palace(not open) and Royal Solaris. It is not open yet either.

Coming from Ken Bondy, I take that as a real compliment! The photos that you post are a real education to many of us. You are inspirational! I used one of your "macro" techniques for the picture of the Sago Palm.

Cabo Azul is a new resort located in the hotel section of San Jose. That would be about 20 miles from San Lucas and about a 1 or 2 mile walk to the center of San Jose. I believe it just recently opened. Haven't visited yet.

thx Judy. they were supposed to be having a "soft" or partial opening this summer. guess not. but according to my contact and fellow baja flyer who is an exec with the development group, by nov we should be fine. he's going too.
but i won't count on anything mex related...i know better - that's why i always never make firm plans or pay 100% deposits up front.
the MDC had a cheap room for me but they wanted 100% payment which i can understand - but the cancel policy was totally punitive. Cabo Azul to the rescue! and it will be comped if it happens. I kinda think it will, the owner drives in SCORE and the 1000 ends in cabo this year!
