Overnight in Mulege or Loreto
Hola Nomads,
Amir and Gnome-Ad are back together after many months of separation caused by our permanent move to Todos Santos. Right now we are in Los Angeles and
tomorrow morning we cross the border. We've gotten wonderful instructions and directions from you guys about getting through the border and through
Ensenada. We plan to spend the first night At Baja Cactus in El Rosario.
The second night, depending on how the day goes, we plan to spend in Mulege or Loreto. We would like recommendations of where to stay. Price is a
little bit of a concern, but mostly we want a secure place for our fully loaded and packed Jeep.
Thank you in advance for your valuable help,
--Amir

You might want to check out the Iguana Inn. The price is right and you may be able to park inside the fence. Very nice folks running it too.
I forgot to say that the Iguana Inn is in Loreto.

Hotel Mulege. It's on the left before you hit the one-way route into town proper.
Clean, cheap and safe.
Leave ER early, have breakfast at Rancho Nuevo Chapala. Order the huevos rancheros.

Amir,
I am not presently in Mulege, but if I were you could have stayed at my place. A good, modest hotel with walled in parking within earshot of the rooms
is the Cuesta Real. It is right on the river, not far from Jungla jim's. On HWY 1 you go over the bridge, (over the town) town, keep going for about a
mile. Go past The Orchard, past the Jungle Jim's sign and it is right there. Turn left and go through the overhead arch and down the dirt road. They
have a restaurant, swimming pool, laundry. You probably won't need reservations this time of year, but to be safe, here's the email:
htl_cuesta_rl@hotmail.com or phone: 011-526-15-15-3-0321 Owners: Ken and Christine Wright. Tell them Tony recommend them. (I live at The Orchard
and stayed there last winter while restoring my casita after the great flood). Oh, they don't allow Gnomes in the pool area, but if you sneak her in
without the cloak and hood, I think she would charm them before they knew what was happening.

Hotel Mulege is in town...air conditioning
Cuesta Real is on the river...air conditioning and a tiled pool
The best spot would be the serinade at the airport..just past the Cuesta Real before the Pemex
air conditioning
they have a full restruant nite and morning
swim-up bar
nice pool
Loreto is too far and the roads are all torn up and "tary"...
stay in mulege...relax you'll have time
Todo Santos will be easy the next day

Hi, Amir,
my vote is for the Hotel Serenidad in Mulege. You won't believe the challenge of the drive from mid-baja to Mulege...you'll want a drink at the
poolside bar. Absolutely love it. Its about $85. american dollars per night, but the rooms are spacious and the food is soooo good.
Then, you get up and take the scenic drive to Loreto - but there is alot of construction, so we found the going slow.

Amir..I vote with Bob and Baja_Girl...I don't know your price range, but the Serenaded is worth the price to me. If it should workout for some reason
and you are there Saturday night the pork roast and music is something you will remember. The pool-bar is killer...maybe some kids though.... Free
WiFi is super near back office, but have used it near pool-bar. They will wash a load of laundry for 50 Mx.

Well you said cost was an bit of an issue...so.....
No doubt Hotel Serenidad is a nice place to stay...in the $eighty buck range as I recall. If you drive right down the main Mulege drag, and with out
any turns, on the left side after the business district, is (this will really grab you for sure) Hotel Squid. For $35 US/night...clean/TV/new/very
quiet/great beds, and you park right in front of your room in the small courtyard.

You may not make it to Mulege
If you dont make it that far stop at Rice & Beans in San Ignacio. Some times too many things happen and you just cant make time. 55 to 75 $ a
night at Rice and Beans. Great food and Margaritas.
If ya make it to Mulege my vote is Sarinadad.
