just basic accomodations in La Paz?
okay have searched all the threads on accomodations in La Paz. I have to bus...ugh...down to pick up my passport tomorrow. my friends who usually
put me up are all out of town. I need a basic hotel/motel to spend the night, nothing fancy, nothing overly sleezy (though I have stayed in some 200
pesos places most of you wouldn't consider) but airconditioned and safe for single female. low budget.
someone has mentioned Mar y Aventuras but didn't know the cost. also the place above the Chinese restaurant on the malecon, ditto.
thanks for any suggestions.
ps anyone heading south through Loreto to La Paz manana?

We always stay at the Oasis, cheap, very clean and nice big rooms and a chinese restaurant there too...even a pool and lovely palm gardens, looks real
expensive but they have lots of rooms and a single was around 200 pesos. a super deal..just get the taxi to take you there.

I stayed at the Oasis a few months ago while undergoing some medical treatment, and was pleasantly surprised. The grounds are very nice and the rooms
are adequate, especially given the price. I paid 270 pesos.
The attached restaurant was not bad, with the chinese food being a nice treat.
I needed some post surgery help and the cleaning ladies were wonderful, then even brought me meals from the restaurant three times a day and
checked on me often to see if I was ok.

Lorimar is one of our favorites, great location one block up the hill from Los Arcos Cabanas.

Lorimar review
okay, thanks to everyone who replied. I ended up staying at the Lorimar because of its location. it was exactly what I wanted, convenient, safe,
clean, basic, relatively inexpensive. as I arrived late, and travel solo, I didn't have much of a choice of rooms, only two single bed rooms
available.
the 'old' ones are about 20 bucks, the one I saw would have been fine, except for the location...everyone on the first floor has to pass it going in
or out. very stark, not visually appealing but clean. better than many 200 pesos places I've been.
I ended up in room 6, a 'new' one at about 35 dollars. new furnishings, better bathroom but mold and mildew over walls and ceiling. had I arrived
earlier, there are better rooms, and I would recommend one on the upper floor for better airflow. but the ac worked great, noisy, but that cut out
any other noises. the beds are very firm.
there's a pleasant open air lobby area that is good for sitting and reading so the lack of a chair the rooms isn't a problem.
it was as I say, fine. not good, not great, not bad, but just fine.
there is a little local restaurant just up Bravo, La Fonda, which served a great breakfast at a low cost.

I guess I'm a little late on concurring with the selection of the Lorimar. It's been a few years now, so wasn't certain of the present situation.
Glad to hear it's still the same good option it had always been for me in the past.
