Puerto Lopez Mateos & Magdalena Bay
We are going to Puerto Lopez Mateos sometime in October & staying for about a month. We will be driving down in a suburban 4x4 diesel and pulling
a small aluminum boat. Are there any houses to rent or motels for the month? We would also like to camp on the beach of Magdalena Bay some of the
time and fish different areas. This is our first time on the Baja side & would like to find a guide to help us find our way around the fishing
areas. I would like to talk to someone on the phone about this area. Would like to caravan down with anyone driving down around that time.
Thanks for any information Bob

Check in at the Feliz Camaron and ask for Saul. (Sa ool)
He speaks pretty good English and if you get in a jam his wife, Judy(nice name!) speaks perfect English.
The whole family is very nice. They have rooms...5, I think and the food is excellent although a month of it would probably wear a little thin as I
doubt that there is much variety...fish, fish, fish. She makes the BEST huevo ranchero I have ever had.
Also go to the cannery and buy a case of tuna. They only have packed in oil but it is soooooooooo fresh you wont mind. It will be great for
sandwiches for your trip and what is left over you can take home.... Last time we were there a case was about $25 and had 40 cans if I remember
correctly(not likely!)

hey Judy, great tip on the cannery.
i am there every 2nd saturday of the month and never thot to ask them about buying direct. they did give us VIP tours of the ops once.
one Q - once canned, does "fresh" really matter?
i thot the canning process takes the product to a whole nuther realm that matters not by then regards when it was caught or cooked?
anyway, $25 for 40 cans - i am in!

I have no idea, Mike. But the cans we bought had a date of yesterday on them so I thought of them as fresh...

Hey Bob, sounds like a fun trip you have planned. I spend a good deal of time up there from Oct. through Dec.. There are some great people in town
that can show you the ropes in the bay. I agree that Saul ****** is an excellent choice and his Mom's place "Camaron Feliz" is perfect for lodging.
There are some spots around town that are good camping too. And you are never too far from the boat launch.
There are great fishing opportunities in the bay but the best of it takes some time to dial in. Tides are critical! And remember...don't mess around
with the Boca de Soledad in a small boat. That's some serious water there. GPS and charts don't exactly show the channels at the Boca. It changes way
too often.
Have fun!

Hi Cardon Man. It sounds like you have been in the Puertp Lopez Mateos area quite a bit. Where do you live when not there? Would you mind if I called
you and asked a few questions about the area?
Thanks for the reply Bob H.

Renting boat
Is there anyone that rents small boats & motors or just boats or should we bring our own? Does anyone know about insurance if you rent?
Thanks Bob
