Armed, home invasion in Mulege

What is this I hear about a armed home invasion in Mulege, with a shot fired and a car stolen? I heard it was on the river road down by the Serenidad.

Any body know any more than that?

Maybe it was a single issue kinda thing to discredit "rumors" about shootings and the like. That Playa Armenta rumor seemed rather real, though.

Time for another issue?

Ya know this is something foreigners should be aware of...it's real easy to get run out of a village for stepping on the wrong toes or being a jerk. So be warned when you buy property, build homes etc.....be nice....or else.....

I can't think of a more important subject than an armed robbery in Mulege, At least for the people already there or the ones like me who want to move there.

Not at liberty to discuss???:?::?::?::?::?:

Is there some kind of secret handshake needed in Mulege???

Is this similar to rules on buying light bulbs??

Or why no one ever criticizes anything in town??

Or why Bruce doesn't post much anymore???

Or no one talks about the nice old man who was hacked to death??

Or why flood damage to the river homes is not really discussed???

What is the real story????

When something like that happens in a small Mexican town, everybody knows someone who knows something. Having said that, it is not safe to comment while it is getting sorted out. At this point, it is still rumor.

Criticism only makes matters worse in the near aftermath. Criticism can have the police and politicians working against you. That's my take, anyway.

Bruce doesn't live there anymore

The old man who was hacked to death, and also the flood, got more than enough coverage here on this board and also in the media. We are still talking about the flood here on the Bajanomad and also among ourselves, and there has been a real outpouring of help. The media coverage usually doesn't happen until one or some of us actually send the info to an individual reporter. Then it gets really worked, often too late to be of much help.

I know it is frustrating that news comes slowly when you are up north and need to make decisions of your own. If you chill a little bit, ask questions without criticizing and be patient, maybe the folk in Mulege will welcome you. Don't move here with a 'tude, Dude!

so um...I'm curious about the lightbulb scenario...When I lived in Guerrero Negro, I once tried to buy some light bulbs as my porch light bulb got stolen a few times... and the store said they cant' keep em in stock which I thought was kinda strange as mexican barrio casas don't have alot of light sockets and bulbs dont burn out THAT fast....so I asked a neighbour and he explained that the meth heads smoke crystal in light bulbs....ewwwww! So now I have friends bring us those curly type low wattage bulbs! So is this what you mean in Mulege about the light bulbs???

Yep. that was what I was referring to.

Im from Fresno which among other things is in the middle of the Meth business.
Due to increased law enforcement, the Meth Mfg are moving south...to Baja...

I know I listed some "bad attitude" questions but the one I forgot was

Have you notificed an increase in locals with bad teeth???

I'm afraid folks or too many of them just don't understand the complete ramifications of the drug..Meth..

It's bad, real bad...and it will have an impact on Baja I'm sorry to say.

Just because its been great for 20 years doesn't mean the same for the next 20.

Anyway, Im still getting out of here and going South...I'm be real quite like a little mouse...maybe a yell or two when I pull a Jimmie Houston....

The great one of "set the hook!!" fame:spingrin:

Bruce moved to Ensenada.
I was not aware of what the light bulb reference was about. I wonder if Shari's question is correct. Crystal Meth is a menace wherever it is found. Given that the light bulb is traditionally a symbol for a good idea and also provides light, that is quite an irony.
