BARNEY IS HOME!

Tuesday morning (8/28) our very adorable beagle went missing at about 9:30 am when one of our not-so-adorable neighbors set off a huge firecracker (M80???? is that what they call those things that give everyone heart attacks?) -- fireworks do scare him and he obviously bolted. Our other 2 dogs came into the house but Barney did not. Around noon I noticed that I had not seen him in a while and we went searching. Found him no where. We've searched the roads and are confident he has not been hit by a car. We now think someone may have grabbed him up (he's very cute and very friendly and trusting...) We are in Rancho Packard between Punta Banda and La Bufadora - we've heard of dogs going missing from this area and ending up as far at Ensenada which is not a reach. Barney is a neutered male, microchipped, collared and has an ID tag. He's a BIG beagle ~45 pounds - not fat but tall for a beagle. We've posted a $500 reward (flyers everywhere and we are getting calls but nothing has panned out yet). Be on the lookout for our Barn-barn!

I know just the feeling.
Our dogs have dissappeared for days at a time and you never know.
So far we have been lucky.

All our hopes that you will be also.

Vince and Kathleen,

We are really sorry to hear about Barney and hope that you find him soon. The longest Cora has gone missing at our place is 9 hrs. We can't imagine how you guys are feeling right now. Our thoughts are with you, and with Barney for a safe return.

muchas gracias, Paulina! Sorry we didn't get back with Cody this week with grandkids! What can I say - they were true SLUGS. Most days couldn't get them out of their PJs! They were really tired after their big road trip from Portland. They did Boise, Salt Lake, New Mexico, the Grand Canyon, Disneyland. Legoland - then arrived here dog-tired! But their dog, Bert, enjoyed it all and had the best vacation of his life hanging at our place with complete freedom - something he's never known and never left our eyesight! Maybe Barney was feeling jealous...

That stinks. One thing I find weird about Mexican Culture is that they will pick up dogs that don't look, well, Mexican. Did he have a tag>? They got one of mine one time. The neighbors saw a van stop and pick it up. A couple of days later we heard something at the front gate, sure enough it was her. She has never wandered since. I wish you the same luck.

Had a boxer once that would snap up small firecrackers like popcorn. Didn't seem to bother her when they went off in her mouth. Was weird to see fire crackers popping off in a dogs mouth. One of those surrealastic things from way back when. Needless to say, we didn't do any fireworks around her.:tumble:

Keep the faith. I lost(was stolen) my dog in Mulege for almost a week after he took a walk . The reward and posters all over the place got him back. Sorry for you. It sucks!
