Hotel Calfia south of Rosarito

We are going to be staying at the Hotel Calfia next weekend for a wedding. I have read some reviews stating that the rooms were dirty and small and the conditions were horrorible. These seem to be recent reviews of the place. Has anyone on this website stayed there and give a really honest review of the place?

While the setting is beautiful, the reviews you read for the accomodations are correct IMHMO.
A very polite review would be : Rooms are not large at all and they seem extreemly well used.

Yes

Food sucks
Rooms are very small
Everything is filthy
Drinks are high priced and bad
Road noise, construction noise and dogs barking all night

Yes, it is a perfect place for a wedding and a gringo weekend.

Thanks! I have heard negative reviews about it but there have been a few positive ones also. I generally stay at Posada Don Luis, a little north of downtown Rosarito, but my wife wants to stay at Calafia where everyone else is staying. i guess we can all be miserable together or drink enough not to notice!!!

It is still A-hole even with the A missing.

It is clearly south of Son Diega and Rosarita.

Rayfornario,
You summed it up. Go for the wedding. Celebrate the time with those you love. Get really drunk and fall into bed! The location is great and with enough "celebration" in you it'll all be good..... It's about the people and nothing else. Enjoy.
And really, the location is amazing!!!

Kind of a scandalous statement to make against a Mexician business. Can you elaborate on your critique :?:

Not scandalous, accurate.

Stop with the patronizing posts. They don't work.

Give up the attacks on me, Duo.

Okay, I can't resist

I held off as long as I could. I thought I had it made and that the rage would leave me.

It did not and for that I am ashamed!

A poor newby comes on the scene and asks a simple, but silly question.

Because of boredom and nothing else the spelling coppers lash out and trash the poor guy!

Come on folks boring is boring and that can not be ignored ....the only question is who makes this site of fun and knowledge....boring?

If the place is that dirty, and the food is that awful, maybe they can hire a maid or two to go over the rooms and hire a caterer for the food. Maybe that would give the management at Calafia a hint?

KNowing how Conrado Acevedo, the owner handles things, he would charge triple for that.

I went there with my parents for a Mother's Day Brunch and it was the most pathetic offering I have ever seen, anywhere. For $20! That was the only time I had ever eaten there...and the last time.

Visits in the past have just been for drinks on the cliff-hugging patio which is a great location. I would go back for that.
