Orcas visit Los Barriles

Today's issue of the Baja Sur Daily News reports a pair of Orcas have been sighted off Los Barriles. The News shows a picture of the pair in the waters off the East Cape.

They must be down here on vacation, filling up on Tacos de Delfin!

I would love to photo ID those babies if anyone has a decent dorsal fin area picture. If there is a pair, there are probably more nearby...or they are outcasts...maybe a mixed marriage!

Shari, the picture shows their backs with dorsals sticking 3 or 4 feet out of the water. I have a scanner, maybe I can scan the picture and send it to you in a U2U. Let me try later today.

Here you go.... I posted these pics a while back when my buddy first saw them while out fishing. Apparently they have been hanging out between Punta Pescadero and Rancho Leonero, not too far off shore.

Very nice orcas, Peloncito, thanks for posting them. They appear pretty close - were you shooting with a big telephoto lens?

Natalie Ann,

My friend was out fishing when they surfaced right next to his 12 foot panga. Luckily, he had his camera with him and got some really great shots.

Wow, that is amazing. Always something new. Mexico is magic!

Great photos, those are the real deal indeed!

What a great life it must be for those creatures! They look very healthy to me. Shari of course could tell us a lot from looking at these pics.

I saw some awesome footage of orcas taking seals off a beach! They are very smart and great hunters.

Great photos. It looks like a couple of young men out for a cruise. I've seen Killer Whales in Bahia but not that close up.
Thanks for sharing.
