Donation Poll
As I an not the type to take a small pie and split in to tiny pieces that does little, I want to stay in line with others opinions too so I thought I
would do a poll.
If you cannot or do not want to donate, please do not vote.
If you have other concerns I may adjust this poll.

Did you know?
That there exists an organization to provide for widows and orphans of fallen police officers?
Brazos Abiertos ("Open Arms") is an organization Sr. Antonia founded with the help of the Tijuana Police Department and citizens of Tijuana. Brazos
Abiertos provides assistance to the widows and children of police officers killed in the line of duty. Friends of the Poor provided over $213,000 in
support of Sr. Antonia's ministries over the last fiscal year.
The collection started yesterday for this year and goes thru today.

Sorry fernando...My spanish is not good enough to determine who...where and how...I would be happy to send them $50...it is what I was hoping for to

fdt, just how does someone find out if the wives of these officers got the help from these monies yet? The next question would be how much do they
give out to each of these wives? I know how long it takes for any government agency to get paperwork done and follow through to a victim here in the
U.S., so I can only imagine how long it takes in Mexico. Al, what about the guy that was killed because the Cartel killers thought he was the cop
they were looking for, I had this question raised to me about using some of these donations for his wife and children. In Mexico something is better
than nothing and what is a little to us maybe a whole lot more to someone else. fdt please note that I was encouraging 60 people to try and give a
minimum of $40 dollars but said anything they could give would be appreciated. I was not trying to run people off from donating and hope I did not do
so taking a shot in the dark with the $40 dollar start request. I just do not like giving to something run by a government agency to give to someone
else, I like to think cutting the middle man out elimates the administrative costs that comes out of the donated monies. Maybe I am off base and the
Mexican government does not do what all the government agencies do here in the U.S. Hopefully, I can find out a little more tomorrow on some issues
raised here on the donating of monies to the officers and what equipment can or can not be bought. Maybe this group that fdt speaks of is the real
way to donate and it goes quickly to those needing it. Later-----bajafun777

Wile I truly believe the intentions are very good, I think that we would need to look further into this "Brazos Abiertos AC" (AC = Asociacion Civil,
civil association) since you don't seem to know who they are. First of all, it has nothing to do with the government of Mexico, this association was
started by Madre Antonia and you can read all about her here, she is someone to emulate;

This organization does not put a minimum $ ammount, as not everyone has a lot, 1 peso is good if one peso is all someone has, their goal was to
collect over $200,000 pesos on this collection.
Now how about giving to this organization (if you'd like) that already knows who the victims are, who the wifes and orphans are and their needs?
It sure eliminates a lot of the detective work involved in finding this out and is logisticaly easyer.

Al G., it just looks like to get the monies to them quicker this group that fdt has shown to have been started with the same thinking we have is real
and can apparently "get the job done." It looks like since it is a volunteer organization they do not need to payoff administrative costs like other
government agencies do. If someone sees something different here please add your comments. For me right now it will be to give to this group fdt has

So sad........
We, as an expatriot community, have just about everything we want. We earned it through lifetimes of hard work. Nice houses, fast cars, kick-ass
boats, good friends. What more could we ask for?
Well, there is one thing. Solidarity. We don't have solidarity. We think only of ourselves. We feel that if mayhem happens to others, it isn't
our problem since it didn't happen to us. Our compassion has a thin skin, transparent at best.
How better off we would be if we watched each others back. How fine we would feel knowing that if we were wronged by a system that our brothers and
sisters would stand up screaming in dissent. How heartwarming it would feel to see our friend's and neighbor's support rather than their backs.
A few , no more I would bet, will follow up on their pledges toward this effort here. The poll above speaks of the lack of interest. Perhaps the
poll should have given more options but how many more could one add? It was already diluted.
God forbid that anyone here would suffer the misfortunes of these familys and need the support of any American community. It isn't our style to help
others, only ourselves.
We had a good opportunity here and the enthusiasm melted like a cheap popscicle. It's the American way. Too bad......for us.
