I dunno. Would be so much cheaper & quicker to widen the main drag in Imperial Beach and remove the beach fence at Playas de TJ so Ken & his
buddies can 4 wheel across without hassle.
A Porta-John with windows & a pensioner with a Lee Enfield - what would that cost for Homeland Security???

I agree, the new crossing should be in Playas de Tijuana so all the people coming north from points south can drive right to the U.S. without going
into Tijuana or going even further east!

Environmentalists would scream bloody murder at disrupting the "pristine" wetlands on the US side.
What happened to the plan to add another layer of inspection booths behind the existing ones at San Ysidro? This would effectively double the capacity
of SY at a fraction of the cost of building a new crossing and the freeway to service it?
Could be done at Otay, too.

It would only double the capacity if they were synchronized. They would have to take in and release the cars at the same time. Do you think that's
possible? I don't.

Building a new port of entry East of Otay is not going to reduce wait times in SY. I think that adding another layer of inspection booths would be the
best option rather than wasting money on a new crossing East of Otay or in Playas. Streamlining the inspection process, especially secondary, and
adding more manpower at peak times for primary inspections would also help to decrease the wait times.
A new crossing in this location might be necessary in future years as TJ expands Eastward but not now. Besides the cost to build the port of entry
this crossing would also require constructing a new 3-4 mile stretch of highway to connect to the 905 that would take years to complete.
