Places to stay in the Guadaloupe valley?

Any nomad have some suggestions, based on practical experience, for a place to stay in the valley overnight on the way down? We don't need anywhere fancy, but clean, and with access to good food would be great. We'll be traveling at the end of October.

thanks!
