Top picks for Mexican Auto Insurance
Hi everyone!
Who do you trust when it comes to purchasing Mexican Auto Insurance? What are your personal experiences with recieving assistance and making claims?
Any of you have stories that involved outstanding service in your time of need???
Am thinking I might go with Baja Bound but wanted to check with all of you first.

I've been with Lewis & Lewis for around 15 years now and am happy with them. I have been fortunate not to have filed a claim. Friends who have had
to file a claim have found them helpful in dealing with the claims adjusters and the Mexican company they use. Mine is with Quantis this year. --
1-800-966-6830 --- I think that number should work from Canada. There are others here that have their favorites and a couple that write policies.

I like it when you can meet with the people who sell the policy to you... form relationships, interact, etc.
I was already a member of Discover Baja Travel Club (for their newsletter and functions, book discounts, etc.) when I went with them for an annual
policy... The repairs can be made in the U.S. with the policy they offer... However, I have never filed a claim having never needed to in all my years
driving in Baja.
BajaBound.com is also run by good people who participate here on Nomad and attend Baja related functions. Before I had an annual policy, I bought
BajaBound for trip coverage. BajaBound.com supports this web site... a BIG reason to buy from them...
Because Lewis and Lewis is used by a lot of folks here and Bedman did some intense research a few years ago, and found their staff easiest to ask
questions of and the most coverage for the dollar, I also have them linked on my web site with the other two companies named here.

In 2002 we had our Jeep stolen in Loreto. Insurance with Lewis n Lewis (for 20 years). Reliance National de Mexico was the Mexican Co. Reliance gave
us $350.00. Lewis n Lewis paid us $1,700.00 out of their pocket to cover the damages, extensive I might add..Lewis n Lewis then changed to Qualitas.
They are in my opion the very BEST! Everything can be done on the computer....so you have records of everything... We are very happy with Lewis n

We also used to carry a policy for both home owners and auto insurance thru Lewis and Lewis. We had to file a claim for a fender bender in town
(hubby's fault), and a claims adjuster was there within hours. The owner of the car he hit was given a check within 72 hours, which was great for
him. However, the repair place we had to take our car to in Cabo was not as good service-wise. What we were told would take a week after parts were
ordered stretched into a month....we had been assured week after week a part for the front end was coming down on the next truck. Since the cost of
the part was about the same as our deductible, we ended up taking the car and telling the repair place we'd be back when they got the part in and
would pay what we owed. It never happened. We were okay without the part - it was purely cosmetic, but we also discovered later on that our heavy
duty 3 month old battery had been swapped out for a older and much smaller one. Can't remember the name of the repair shop, unfortunately.
