Armed group steals cars from Tijuana Toyota dealership

TIJUANA – A group of armed men stole at least seven cars from a Toyota auto dealership early Tuesday morning after tying up a security guard and two men who were delivering some of the cars.
Jaime Niebla, commander of the Tijuana-area state police force, said the robbery took place around 2 a.m. at the Toyota dealership on Via Rapida Poniente.

The victims told authorities the attackers tied their arms and feet with adhesive tape and threatened to kill them.

“It's the first time I've heard of this kind of a crime here, in which they come to an agency and take this many cars,” Niebla said.

The keys were inside the cars, making it easy for the assailants to drive away in them. Three were RAV4 sports utility vehicles. Niebla didn't know the models of the others. He said it was unclear how many people were involved in the attack or what kind of weapons they had.

Niebla said the cars may have been stolen to be sold for profit, but he didn't rule out the possibility that an organized crime group might use them to commit crimes.

Now they're off to the nearest paint shop to have them painted black and white and slap a "policia" sticker on the doors. Just add flashing lights and... PRESTO! Instant police farce with brand new cars!
