"Permiso"

Do you have to get a "permiso" to cross into Baja? I'm talking about the sticker that goes on your vehicle?

NO - assuming it has US plates, anyway.
Just drive across and get your FMT (visa) .

You only need the car sticker permits for most of the mainland, not Baja.

Oh, don't forget, however, to get Mexican car insurance.

Have great trip

If coming from TX, you may be interested to know that you can also do most of Sonora (Guaymas, San Carlos) without the importation- only needed if you're going south of Empalme and you can get it there if so.

An exception is if you plan on crossing on one of the ferries.

All my childhood I wanted to be older. Now I\'m older and this chitn sucks.

No permiso needed for Baja California, you don't even need to pay a toll if you take the free road ;)
