Oh my gosh! You have my hummers! I posted here a month or so ago because they'd disappeared from my home in Las Vegas. The little blue faced one isn't mine, but the others might be. I thought mine were with Bob & Susan in Muleje, but who knows?
Thanks for the post!

They can and do open their beaks... from baby birds to the adults feeding them. Never got a real good look at the food, but I suspect tiny insects and such.

tehag will know... perhaps he'll notice this and tell us.

Thanks. Here's another one. He was getting pretty used to me and even landed on my finger a couple of times to take a drink from the feeder.

Tortuga,

The photos are beautiful. I had a hummingbird buzz my head today. The temperature has turned cold (below freezing in the early mornings) here in the High Sierras. I am not feeding them but they are still here.

hummers

Bugs being served by mother Costa's to prodigal son who left the nest early. Very common with the feisty Costa's.

The last 2 shots appear to be of a broad billed hummer. My books have them ranging mainland Mexico to the very south of Arizona, not in the Californias at all.
