Late FM3 renewal
Can anyone tell me what the penalty or consequense is for late FM3 renewal? This would be 6 or 8 months later.
Through circumstances out of our control, my wife and I have to go back early to Canada but should renew our FM3 in February 08.

I would go to migracion before you leave and tell them that you will not be back in time. I believe that they will give you some kind of paperwork.
There may also a penalty involved but my guess would be that it would be less if you do it ahead of time.
Whatever you do, do not try to come back in on a tourist visa...big no no.

If you get it stamped "Salida" when you leave, you will have 15 days after return to start the renewal process without penalties.

To be late is common and really no big deal, you will pay maybe 300-600 pesos US$25-55 I am guessing. Just go and tell them exactley why you are late
and say you have no money except a bag of oranges. If its too much refuse and begin again later.

I was late once and the find was about $20 US per DAY. More than the usual bag of oranges I get.

Thank you all so much for the advice.
$20. US per day will motivate me to just take them with us over the border and then send them back per curier to a notary in TS to do the work. I hate
to pay for that service, because it is easy to do by yourself in La Paz. Life gets expensive when you get medical problems and the Insurance company
kicks you out.

How come that, according to my family in Ontario, you Kanucks never have to fret about medical.
They tell me that everything is covered, all you have to do is go see a doctor and your government takes care of the rest.
