San Diego Airport Hotel?

Visitors lining up to invade my "PUB" next few months. Needing 1 night hotel room near SD airport with shuttle service for guests' early a.m. exit flights back to east coast.

My only experience has been at QualityInn/Sea World near Shelter Island. Solid, clean, no-frills, similar to any Motel 6 on the road, $80 - $100.

Other recommendations? Próspero Año Nuevo

I think there is a Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express and a Ramada in the airport area

Hey Doc, there's a Holiday Inn at 1355 NORTH HARBOR DRIVE
SAN DIEGO, CA 92101 that would work out nicely for your guests.

I highly recommend the Holiday Inn as beachbum1A suggests. Would avoid the Ramada. ++Ken++

Thanks all. Hoiday Inn/Harbor Drive can now be added to Quality Inn(my experience) and Vagabond(per Pt Loma resident friends) on Scott Street.

Also, I have had solid food/beverage experiences at Bali Hai
and Miguel's. Bali Hai looks like a failed 1960's place that might have had the menu on a frying pan or a boat oar. But, the appetizers make for quality meals and the view of the water and San Diego skyline is grand. Parents had pork tenderloin and it would have been a challenge for me to finish. Service is also good. If you want to entertain guests or yourself near SD airport, check out Bali Hai. And the Hinano beer from Tahiti is another treat.

Ok, I know this is a "stretch/cousin of Baja" thread, but, with so many visitors to/fro SD airport, hope it helps. Friend of mine highly recommended La Pensione Hotel, in Little Italy.

Referring friend lived 2 blocks away for a few years and had several visitors, including biz types, hang there. My sister just booked a room for $80, 2nd week in March, for ease with her early morning exit flight. Lower rate via phone call than via website, adding to the charm.

We booked the QUALITY INN which is very near the west end of Lindberg Field and has 24 hr shuttle to and from Lindberg, and it was $62 per night for 2 people. This was in Oct. ' 07.

It was fine, by our standards.
