cool spot

Here are some pics of a cool camp spot we stayed for the night. We did this trip in march of 2007.
We crossed in Tecate and drove the dirt track to Laguna Hanson. We then headed south staying in the mountains and decended the summit road to thd desert floor. Once at the bottom we took the pole line road and camped one night along the road. The next day we finished the trail and reached Hwy 5 and headed home

Great spot John, a little different than much of Baja

This was our first time exploring this area ourselves. It reminds me more of the Sierras than Baja

You are in for a surprise! Baja's variety of climates in such a small area is one of the fascinating aspects of the peninsula!

This photo was taken less than 40 miles (as the crow flys) west of San Felipe!

Check Cabella's website:

www.cabellas.com

Do a search under "cots".....it's the Cabella's DeLuxe Tent Cot, about $169

Bajaguy----------those cot/tents look super, and a lot cheaper than one of those root-top clamshell sleepers that cost over $2K----------how do you like them, and how long to set up and take down?? and are they for one person each only??

They are real nice. takes about 3 minutes to set up or take down. Just throw a sleeping pad and bag inside, add a LED light and a Pacifico..... you can read and be snug as a bug!!!!

They make a single size and a double size. The double size is great for one, plenty of room...but would be REAL cozy for two!!!

I own a roof tent and a tent cot. Both are nice but the tent cot is much better in the wind. I park my jeep as wind block and set up the tent cot on the opposite side. There is no getting away from the wind in a roof tent.

John, that looks like el Calabozo, just above Palomar canyon? ,My friend just came from a week end in la Laguna and he was told by one of the ranchers, not to wonder around that section there supposed to be some drug runs by people that grow pot in those areas, this is just word of mouth, don't know if its true..
