Reservations for Guadalupe Canyon ?

Has anyone used the internet to make reservations at G Canyon? Are they reliable? Do you think I need reservations? I have been three times but never made reservations. Last time we almost got turned away but a last minute cancelation got us El Dorado. Everything else was taken. It has been two years and it seems it has become more popular.

Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks

Reservations

After the recent fire the situation may be different. Are things rebuilt sufficiently to attract the throngs from Mexicali?

Friday & Saturday nights I'd certainly want a reservation.

Mid week this time of year I'd take the chance without a reservation. We've done it to find the place practically to ourselves.

We have used the online reservation once and it worked just fine - two years ago.

Yes, you should have reservations... since the fire burned most of the other sites OUTSIDE of Arturo's Campo #1, his is in more demand... primarily on weekends, as John said.

I understand Arturo lost 3 palapas and his restaurant/ store to the fire... Angel lost all of his and Mario's also was burned out (where most of the Mexicali crowd goes. Arturo's/ Rob's high prices should limit the campers to those who appreciate the natural setting without music and fireworks... We will see!

Email Canyonman Rob for reservations as detailed on the web site: http://www.guadalupe-canyon.com

I will give a full report when we return after this weekend...

Update and new photos: http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=29358

We camped there last Friday and Saturday nights and were the only campers there Friday night and just one group at El Dorado on Saturday night.

Getting reservations still is smart and means you just bring the printout from Rob instead of cash for the stay.

Almost all of the sites at Arturo's were open... All of Angel's and Mario's camps are burned down (Campo #2 & 3) however.
