RV Parks in La Paz?
What is the current situation of RV Parks in La Paz? Last time there we found the El Cardon closed. The La Paz RV Park was open.
We are thinking of coming down with the truck and camper for Carnaval and would like to get as close as possible to the main drag. Any suggestions
and information.

I am headed that way today.
Will be looking for an rv park too. I heard that aguamarine was closed but will check. Casa Blanca is supposed to be nice but I have never even been
inside and it is a good hike into town as is La Paz RV. I like La Paz RV because there is usually no one there.

I was at Casa Blanca last a few months ago. It is nice inside with full hookups and WIFI. It is a bit tight for larger rigs...but we always seem to
get them to fit.

aguamarina close? for good? They close in the summer and the owners are on prim.When we went in 2001 summer they open the rv park for us.Looking
forward to this summer drive down to the east cape!

Mrs Miller and I always picked "La Orpiz" located a little north in Centanario, but with in a reasonable driving distance to La Paz. It has hook ups,
laundry, security and a GREAT view at night of La Paz across the bay.
It has been several years so might want to check AAA first.

Ok, now anybody have a number for the La Paz RV Park? The 122-8787 and the 122-4480 do not work.

I live about 10 blocks towards town (La Paz) from the La Paz RV Park. I have driven by there and walked by there a few times in the past three weeks.
I think it is closed. The gate is closed and there are no rigs there. It looks like it has not been opened for a year or so.
The other RV park down by the water towards the Navy Base seems closed also. I heard that the owner of Baja Expeditions purchased the property and it
no longer is used as an RV park.
I was in Casa Blanca about a week ago and it is definitely open and there were about 10 rigs there. This is the best park that I know of in La Paz.
(and might be the only one open) This park is across the street from the "Purple Hospital" on the way into La Paz and is a ways from downtown but it
is clean, has shower facilities, a pool, laundry facilities, power and sewer.
I have no idea what happened to the La Paz park - I used to stay there myself a few years ago but it looks closed.
Hope that helps. Is there anyone out there who may know more?

Well shucks howdee, guess then I need a phone number for Casa Blanca. First the Cardon closes, then La Paz RV Park, then Aquamarine. Guess it is not
real profitable for RV Parks in La Paz. Thanks for the great info Bernardo.

Thanks Joe, I called them and they have to see how many people will be in the caravans they have coming in before they can give me a reservation. If
they are full I guess we can still camp out at Tecolote and drive back into town for Carnaval. I was hoping they could find us a couple of spots so
that we would have ready access to town but those darn caravans.

Hey fellow RVers. The Auquamarine is the one by the navy base and it is literally a block through the barrio from my house. I will go there tomorrow
and see if it's sale has really affected the place as an RV park. I have been too lazy to just walk there and see - the cervesa and tequila are
located in the opposite direction!

PS - send more heat down here - we are having to wear long pants and a coat occasionally.

Richard Adc-ck, owner of the Aquamarina RV park, told me that last season was their last one. They have simply retired, and earned it. They are
moving into the casita above the pool for their home.

Thanks Jack, looks like the Casa Blanca is the only option and I may have to highjack a complete caravan to have room to park. Of course highjacking
a complete caravan could only help with traffic flow anyway. We got behind one the other day and they must have really loved Baja as they were
experiencing the peninsula at 30 mph. (Lots to savor)

Mi Amigos - I walked over and checked both the La Paz RV park and the Aquamarina RV park - neither are open. Aquamarina was purchased by a group
from Baha Exbiditions and others. The area around La Paz RV and Aquamarina is really developing. The Grand Baha is serious about their new condos -
three are finished and are show models. All around the reptile gardens and the La Paz park area there are new homes, condos, and high rise apartments
- the nice old small resort to the west of the Grand Baha is leveled and there is a sign that they are building more condos there. Many non-Mexican
license plates.
And, they are selling them - no empty homes.
Woe is me. Development is coming closer to me casa.
Someone needs to open another RV park in La Paz.

We stayed at Maranatha around New Year. It's about 3 to 4 miles North of La Paz on Hwy 1. Very spacious and clean. The owner was very kind and nice.
It only cost us $10 a night (we're tent camping) There's a nice coffe shop in front named Cafe Exquisito also own by the family, with free wifi and
free call to the US.
We arrived in La Paz around noon and spent the rest of the afternoon searcching for the camp site. Most of the sites listed on our Moon 2007 guide
book were closed including our favorite El Cardon. We were so tired and so glad to find the Maranatha site just from driving around.
The times are changing. La Paz's getting much more crowded nowaday. We couldn't find some of our favorite eating places there from our last trip in
1997.
