Happy Boojum Trees in Wonderland
They loved the rain.
This one was reaching for the heavens through the looking glass. One can hardly see John off to the left.
Thanking the rain, they are blooming.

Wow! That's some boojum, Diane. Believe that's the tallest I've seen. John looks sooooo small in comparison. Thank you.

Ah yes, secret, secret, double secret Asuncion place---only grow that tall in very secret location--well, it may be just a tiny little bit north of
Asuncion

Wonderful photos Diane. In that first one (which is magnificent BTW) is that a half-moon just to the right and near the top of the tall one, or is
there a smudge on my monitor???

Hey Diane, great shots. When Tim and I were driving through that area I was reading up on them in my guide book. It said it was the only place in
the world that had Boojum tree's. It also said they looked like upside down carrots. They never striked me that way.

Can't get enough boojum?
Book with dozens of photos and great Boojum info - readily available, and inexpensive, on the used book market.

Then go to the used book search -

Thanks for the boojum photos, John and Diane. That area of Baja is always a welcome-back sight for us, too. Spendid shot of a boojum reaching for
the moon.

Diana...John, Is the pull off there large enough for a Motorhome? I was so busy looking at the scenery and hustling the MoHo I didn't see a place.
Assuming that is on Highway 1

How you doing up there in cold land? Upside down carrot---never heard that one. However, the ones below were exceptionally fat ones and do maybe
look like upside down carrots.

Al, where we pulled off this time is north of Catavina --- usually an easy turn-off, but with the rains, the drop from the pavement to the dirt was
pretty good---no problem for the truck, but don't think I would take a mo-ho there.
There are some other easy turn-offs, but that drop-off can be the problem. Then again, if you want to walk around and take some pictures, park at the
La Pinta or right off the road right before the La Pinta. Just an idea.
We never grow tired of that desert---always looks different, and is always beautiful, and always a sense of humility when faced with those unique
plants ----

Al G...there are many places both north and south of Catavina for your motorhome access. Camping or just a couple hours sight-seeing, we have pulled
5th Wheel, motorhome, truck camper, and cargo trailer into the desert on established trails..good hard pack...no problemo, amigo.
As John and Diane say, just check out those highway edges first. You will find a pristine and wild environment amongst the boulders.

Beautiful photos--nice to see the rains finally return to the peninsula--it was sooooo dry in August; makes me want to get in my truck and drive out
there right now!
