Don't know the story, yet, but yes youre right it is for throwing it uses cemequin or marmolera to throw the mixture to a wall or celling. I've seen it done with plain cement, It would be like coating or emplaste con textura and a tirolera can throw or can tirolear diferrently depending on the mixture.

Don't know the history of that tool but, I've seen them used. The more modern version is run off a compressor. Much more efficient. That contraption above is hard to handle since one hand holds it and the other hand cranks. When it's loaded, it can be heavy.

Interesting---our first coat of plaster inside, and all the coats outside were applied one trowel at a time. They would scoop it out of the wheelbarrow and throw it on the wall---was a very slow process.

I am challenged applying "mud" texture with my spiffy hopper and compressor. That thing looks like cheese grater on steroids. Patent pending?
