need a tested Sangria recipe
anyone?
so far i think it has red wine
brandy
triple sec or controye
some fruit juice - kind?
orange slices.
anyone here drink this concoction?
i am supposed to take some to a wing ding manana.
thot i'd experiment tonite.

Picked this recipe up at a little seaside tapas bar in San Sebastian, Spain. After sampling all sorts of sangria from one end of Spain to the other,
this one was so good I had to ask for it:
Drambuie
Contreau
Triple Sec
Sugar
Orange & Lemon Fanta
Orange slices
Crap red wine of your choice.
Mix all portions to your taste. Trial and error is the best part of perfecting it. Good luck.

the fanta sounds great for bubbles
and i have an endless supply of vin tinto so.....hey! me thinks good old
Mateus sp? or that other semi sparkling reddish one from Portugal i used to limber up a few cheerleaders in strange dayz gone by........

Mike-
There are a number of variations with the primary difference being wine only or wine plus brandy (or vodka). I usually opt for wine only.
Red wine
sliced apples, oranges, lemons, limes
Orange Juice in place of triple sec
grenadine
sugar
Some times I will add sweet and sour as well. Let the sangria mix for at least 6 hours. That's pretty much it.

Sangria with Tequila
Watch out for this one: Rasberry Tequila Sangria
1 bottle White Wine, preferably Spanish or Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Gris
1 cup silver Tequila
1/2 cup Triple Sec
1/4 cup fresh Lime Juice
1/4 cup Sugar
2 pints fresh Raspberries or 10 ounce frozen package (thawed)
24 ounces (2 cans) Ginger Ale
ice
Lime wedges, for garnish (optional)
PREPARATION:
Place raspberries in a small bowl and mash with a wooden spoon. Add the white wine, tequila, triple sec, and lime juice to a large glass pitcher. Stir
in the sugar and continue stirring until completely dissolved.
Stir in the mashed raspberries.
and/or my favorite:
White Sangria Recipe
1 bottle of Cava or Champagne ( very cold)
1 cup of freshly squeezed orange juice ( it also works well with cranberry juice).
2 oranges in wedges
2 apples in chunks
1 cup of water
½ cup of sugar
6 not too long cinnamon sticks
crushed ice
mint leaves
Heat the water, sugar and cinnamon sticks and let simmer for about 5 minutes. Let this cool off and then remove sticks. Chill overnight along with the
Cava or Champagne. Mix all together and serve over crushed ice to liven up the taste buds! After pouring each one this refreshing party punch,
decorate with a mint leave to put a touch of class to your sangria recipe

I used this recipe in a couple of restaurants and they were well received. Unfortunatly I don't have it in hand but, I got it out of one of the
Sunset books. They have them for everything but, this one was Mexican Cooking.
A very simple recipe with red wine and club soda and other simple things, not all the stuff mentioned above.
Try it...You'll like it. Great for crowds 'cause you can make it in bulk and freeze what's left. Just what you need on a trip....a half pound
popsicle.

Got this recipe in San Juan PR, hence the Rum:
Dark red wine
light rum
Triple sec
pineapple juice
orange, lime, and mango wedges
Cut up the ripe fruit into the bottom of a pitcher.
Add rum to cover the fruit and let stand for 1 hour.
now add approx half as much triple sec as rum, and an equal part pineapple juice.
fill the pither 3/4 full of Ice and top with dark red wine.
Serve over ice. Popular drink with lighter afternoon cigars.

From my yut. We called it "Taste so good"
1- large cooler with a drain and tubing attached for the spout
1 - 1 Gallon bottle of red Mountain Burgandy
1 - quart of vodka
1 - quart of whiskey
1- quart of Hawaiian Punch concentrate
1 - gallon of water
4 - bags of ice
Oh, we usually added what ever else was brought. By the 9th inning we we kinda mixed up!

Capt Mike... I made this years and years ago when I lived in Rota Spain. I remember we threw just about any kind of booze in there, lots of red wine
(three five gallon bottles), and a bottle of vodka, a bottle of rum, a bottle of whiskey, and lots of fruit. Oranges, limes and peaches! You can put
grapes in there too. Oh, and bananas! We put all the ingrediants in a large rubbermade type trash can (a new one) and covered it up with a towel for
three or four days to ferment! Stirring occasionally... Pour it in your glass with a large ladle! WOW - that was good s-it man! (Jeeze.... and NO
WATER!)

I'm pretty sure that the label on Hawaiian Punch said "real fruit flavors". I also didn't capitalize "red" and I'm pretty sure also that Red Mountain didn't use real grapes either. But when you're 16 or 17 and a gallon cost
$1.25 It was a "wine" made by the porcelain gods.
