My trip to Cancun

Gotcha...no frozen margaritas nor babes in bikinis here!

Just a fishing camp 32 kilometers from # 1 south of Cuidad Constitucion.

The road going in was pretty rough but by the time we left they had graded it.

We never saw another person except for a marine who walked to our camp to tell us that they marines were there if we needed them. We did hear the hum of outboard motors in the distance. But it was one of the most peaceful places we have ever camped. We were bummed that we didnt have our kayak...next time!

We brought along our dog sitter.

Speaking of dogs....if you go there be sure to keep your dogs on tethers. The first night it sounded like 100 coyotes in the marshes. Pretty scary sound. Our dogs looked like they had seen a ghost when the howling started. They slept in the cab as they always do and we never left them tied up at the camp alone.

What a lovely spot you found, Judy. Did you just happen down this road or had someone told you it was a good place to explore?

I really love that sunset photo - the colors so muted... very subtle and lovely, that image. And in the next shot.... I've seen water colors like that once before - thought I'd died and gone to heaven.

Thank you so much for sharing this spot with us. It's been added to my 'see this' list.

Nena

We traveled down that road last year and I fell in love with the place. It was one of those trips when we said "I wonder where that road goes?"
Planning on going back soon. We also met a wonderful rancher on his horse. He was so nice and even told us we could park at his rancho if we felt uncomfortable about staying out there where there were no people...
We like it when there are no people. We thanked him, gave him a cold beer. We talked to him for about 30 minutes in our terrible spanish. He was great, just another situation that makes Baja dear to our hearts....

Natalie..we were in the Palapa RV park in Constitucion and decided to take a few days off. We had been on the road working for over a week.
We had always been fascinated by the sign to Cancun....does anyone know what cancun means?...but we were also interested in Puerto Chale. Finally decided on Cancun because it came up first.

spirit....
"I wonder where that road goes?"

we do the same thing.....you will certainly never answer that question until you take that road.

Good for you Judy! I really enjoy this thread... and I haven't opened it before because I assumed you went to the original Cancun, not the one on Mag Bay, Baja! (maybe add ', Baja' to the thread title?)

In 1985, we did the same thing, only further south and took the dirt road heading west to Punta Conejo and loved the place!

One morning while we were having our coffee, the drone of an outboard motor got closer and closer. When I looked up I saw these guys headed toward us.
It appears that crab is the cash crop there in Cancun and these guys were going to check their nets. As they pulled in the net, I started counting but quit when I got to 100. They did some work on the net and then set it in a different area, ready for the next harvest

We also heard outboards at night and most of the pangas were equiped with lights. Night fishing, crabbing? any ideas?
