Dish Works Well
My guide has about 600 channels from Dish. Lots are duplicate programs mirrored on more channels. I have a VIP211 set and get quite a bit of the High
Def with an 8' dish on 129, the signal is good some of the time and at times does fade. I have a 6' dish mounted with two LNB's, one for 119 and one
for 110. The signal is pretty good, you get a compromise of signal strength being off center, but its good enough for 30 on the new meter. This set up
is not for the faint hearted and is a bear to put away for hurricanes. I am located in Los Barriles, about 75 miles South of La Paz. Most around here
are using a 1.2 meter dish for good reception of Dish Network, if you are getting chinese stations you may be pointing at the wrong sat, hit menu on
your remote, then 6,1,1 you will end up on the point dish screen, do a switch test and look at the results, and see what sat you are focused on, you
should try 119, do a repoint and retest to make sure its on 119....hope this helps....

Fire Dept
I spent 30 great years with L. A. City. Retired from 17's in 93. Worked mostly in East LA, Watts and downtown.

Reason I asked is that a Carson City (NV) FD guy is/has built in Los Barriles.
My wife's (bajablonde) dad, Jimmy Hassan, was with LAFD, Stn 27 (KIA 12-11-58).

I did not come onto the force until 1963. Station 27 is almost impossible to get assigned to as it has lots of difficult fires and has an incredible
reputation of hard work and love of being a firefighter. She can stand proud in the knowledge that he was one of 'finest' and gave it all to save
others. He had to be someone special just to get that assignment and knew that by working there in Hollywood the risk of harm could not outweigh his
desire to serve and protect. Sorry for her loss.

Just in time for the first Watts Riots. I'll bet that had you thinking about another job.

watts Riots
The first Watts Riots were a very crazy time, I had just happened to be working the first day, we were sent into the fray at about dusk, I being a
young guy was placed with a 35 year engineer to protect him, it was a very long night, too many dead people, too many fires, what a waste. No, it was
not a thing that made one want to quit, it seemed to make us all think we lessened a very bad thing, we went from fire to fire until dawn. I am glad I
was 21 years old and in the best shape of my life. I now wounder how the older guys kept up the pace, retirement is the best....my most important
thing now it to catch a bit fish....err..let the Marlin go but the rest are very good eating......

Bombero, can you post pictures of the twin LNB set up at the end of your feedarm. your neighbors using the 1.2 meter dishes, do they also use twin
LNB's and get both 119 and 110?

Yeah....I was there too, for a week. Completely insane. The FD couldn't spend enough time on a fire to put it out, especially while being shot at.
You're right about the bodies. The official count was around 17. I saw that many and more. We shot at everything that moved after curfew and a lot
of them shot back.
Anyway, welcome to retirement and Baja.

Dual LNB/Twin LNB?
Are you talking about an LNB with two connectors, or with two heads/feeds? The dual head feeds can't pick up the two main Dish Network satellites here
because the geometry on a larger dish is different. The feeds would need to be about 10" apart on a 6' dish to pick up both the 119 and the 110
satellites. Closer on a 1.2 but still much wider than the couple of inches they are in the states.
