El Socorro-WSB
Went for a ride to El Socorro last Friday from the Bay Area to hang out with friends. I left 4am, arrived around 6pm same day. One hour delay outside
of Ensenada whena truck ran off the road. Still had fun while waiting, took a few pics.
pic. of truck:
I was only able to fish one day for 2 hours...huge swells, no mas for this dude. However this WSB is my best to date, and you knew I would forget the
camera at the house. 55lbs, used a krock. blue mack. color. 30 lbs string topshot over 50lbs. spectra.
Went to the Shrimp farm, but shrimp were to small to buy. I guess they need a few more weeks to grow. Good excuse to go back. I spent the rest of the
time visiting and drinking Pacificos with friends. Great quick trip.

That is a nice fish. What size crocs were you using?
I guess it was worth the wait in traffic after all.

South of San Quintin? Fishing in the kelp?
If so it's good to know. Better on a calm day maybe. Nice fish for such a sort time.

Croc. size, 5-6 inch. 3.25 oz. bought'em at Walmart. The largest they carry. El Socorro is south of San Quintin. Saw surface action, second cast got
the fish. If the swells weren't so big, my game plan was to fish kelp forest for calicos, and sandies.

Classic story. I'll be there this weekend. Maybe I will fish if the water is right.

Didn't want to buy anything to expensive: I just bought two reels to use both in the Bay Area, and San Quintin. Looks like the way things are going
in our neck of the woods, maybe just San Quintin. I fish out Halfmoon for salmon, tuna, halibut and the SF/SPB Bay for halilbut, sturgeon.
Daiwa Saltist 30TH (6.4:1) match to a 8ft.Shimano Tallus TLC-80HA for sturgeon, WSB, salmon, tuna, YT. Also got the Saltist 20H super speed, 20 lbs
topshot, 30lbs spectra. Match to a Seeker 8.5ft. Inshore series II blue lighting BCSW 858T 20lbs topshot 30lbs spectra for calicos, RF, WSB, YT.
I can cast these reels better than my avets...so far I like
what I bought, time will tell.
Correction on croc., used 2.5 oz.

Launch off the beach El Pabellon on a friends boat, El Socorro beach this time of year, not a good idea for lanuching. Saw action between El Socorro
& Tranquillo.
