Another passport Question
Hi guys.. Soon I will leave for my semi annual 6 weeker in baja. Son and girlfriend want to spend a couple of weeks baja in et with us. Will fly
them back(CA) from San Jose around 5 or 8 of May. Problem is that the girlfriend's passport expires May 1... Any observations

i would call the passport agency and ask whether an expired passport is ok as proof of citizenship (which is all the border guys need to verify). i
believe the answer is yes. your citizenship does not expire because your passport does.
but in any case, renewing would be a good idea. the renewal process is fairly rapid these days (3 weeks or so) and a form stamped when/where she
applies will serve as fine documentation to get back into the states.
buen viaje

Renew the passport, I just got mine back in 2 1/2 weeks with expedited service. Tell them you are leaving the country and it could even be faster.

My wife and I just received our passports. Total turn around time was 2 1/2 weeks, we did not pay for the expedited service.

Let me tag onto this...My step daughter and her S.O. are taking a "super turista" cruise out of Southern California. A stop in Catalina and a stop in
Ensenada. Will there be any passports required?

Passports are required for AIR travel only (at this time... and until Summer 2009, most likely).
They need a gov't. photo ID (drivers license, state ID card if not a driver) AND the birth certificate or other approved proof of citizenship for land
or sea crossings...
