Loreto: Has construction started on this timeshare resort?
Anyone have any more info (and opinions) about this development in Loreto?
LORETO: Interval International has announced the addition of Villa del Palmar Loreto, a vacation ownership property
in Baja California Sur, Mexico, to its global vacation exchange network. The resort, which will be part of an 1800-acre master planned resort complex
being developed by The Villa Group, is currently under construction.
Villa del Palmar Loreto will feature 161 one-, two-, and three-bedroom villas, all with views of the Sea of Cortez. The first phase, which has 100
villas, is slated to open in 2009 and phase two, with an additional 61 villas, will be completed in 2010. Each villa will be decorated with elegant
furniture crafted from specially selected woods and will include a living room, dining room, full kitchen with granite countertops, modern appliances
and electronic equipment, and a spacious terrace.
Guests and owners will have access to a wide selection of amenities, services, and activities onsite or nearby, including restaurants, bars,
convenience stores, full-service health spa, fitness center, swimming pools, expansive beach areas, tennis courts, golf, water sports, and horseback
riding.
“The Villa Group is respected in the industry for its consistently high-quality products and services, as well as for developing resorts in emerging
destinations,” said David C. Gilbert, executive vice president of resort sales and marketing for Interval International. “The newest addition to its
resort portfolio is the first vacation ownership property in Loreto, and as a result, will provide our members with a unique vacation experience.”

The ultimate demise of Baja
Lacking basic infrastructure and summer temps that will melt your Camel it’s good to know you have stunning amenities. Including “elegant furniture
crafted from specially selected woods” and a “kitchen with granite countertops, modern appliances and electronic equipment”. Does that mean air
conditioning? Wow, and to think I almost moved to Florida. What will they do with the nasty fish cleaning facilities on the beach? I can only hope
this development will go away, far away. Baja does not need anymore Cabo’s.

Villa Group brought in all the heavy equipment, and according to legend they should start, in the next few month.
CFE (Electricity) installed the poles into Ligui, with the intention of reaching Ensenada Blanca, until a ranchero, with big political friends,
refused to permit installation of the poles through his land. First snafu'! Now they have to find an alternative route. Second snafu' is the
negotiation with the Ejido Santo Domingo for a private entrance to Ensenada Blanca. That may be resolved in a near future. They have to find a way
to get to the Bay without infringing into private property or buy their way in.
Ensenada Blanca is beautiful and if things are done correctly it will remain so. As I understand they will start very slowly, probably due to the US
market, but Villa Group seem to be a serious company, with success like Villa Palmar (Cabo), Puerto Vallarta, Isla Mujer etc.,. Much different than
the quasi disaster of LB. But...only time will tell.;

A VERY good buy
Fot tihs area, that's a STEAL actually. Danzante Resort is an established and very successful business. They're number one in Fodor's guide for
Mexico resorts in their class and have won several awards over the years for their resort and their service. Look at thair ranking and comments on http://www.tripadvisor.com for hotels in Loreto. And that's just the business part of the deal. They're on the prettiest beach in the area with
a knock down drag out gorgeous view of it all and they own the prime center parcel of beach on Ensenada Blanca. I wish I had the loot!

What is it that you think looks nice?
To my eyes it looks like any old generic beach destination resort for people who don't want to think, or learn anything about another country, or
the people who live there. Looking at the picture one can almost taste the steak and baked potato dinner in the restaurant, or the tacos with a nice
mild salsa for the more adventuresome diner. All accompanied by a $10 margarita or a $5 beer. A nice round of golf on brilliant greens in the middle
of a desert (just don't think about it, it's all taken care of,there
is plenty of water), followed by a relaxing massage on the beach by a local therapist who really cares about you and understands your needs. These
places are a dime a dozen along the coastlines of Mexico, and in other parts of the world that are blessed with good weather. Doesn't matter if
you're in Puerto Vallarta or Puerto Escondido, or Dubai, it all looks the same, and very tastefully done. Although investors and developers may
experience great personal gains in wealth from these places, the people who have historically lived nearby and made use of these areas for employment
and recreation are displaced, and their lives are usually not improved by the new resort economy.
Playa Ensenada Blanca is just about the most beautifu place on earth to my eys as it is today, and NOTHING could make it better.

Wiles....There is absolutely nothing redeeming about this picture of the proposed development and mindset of the people who will come here to
vacation. It is really an environmental disaster and travisty, that the Mex. Govt. allows this type of wholesale destruction to happen to such a
beautiful and pristine and intact small authentic Mexican fishing village. These types of developments are infinite as are the number of spots that
are presently bieng considered for this type of property speculation. Baja needs to remain wild and natural. All wildlife is the big loser in these
type of deveopments. I have spent a fair amount of time in this area in the past and it saddens my heart. ++C++

Water (fresh) for a large pool needn't be an issue that close to the sea.
