Posada de Don Vicente. On north side of road going into GN. Plenty of secure parking and very reasonable rates for rooms.

Los Caracoles is a lovely new hotel, reasonably priced...lots of Nomads have stayed there, safe parking as well...on the right side just past Posada Don Vicente...one thing about Don vicente's place is that Sirenita reports that it is a hotel de paso...meaning htere is quite a bit of ladies of the evening activity there and is quite noisy in the middle of the night...just a heads up in case your wife doesnt approve.

Los Caracoles is nicer then Don Vincente, but also quite a bit more expensive.
Stayed at Vincentes many a time and "NEVER" noticed any of those night time shenenigans.
And the parking is a lot better then Los Caracoles.

Well sorry I beg to differ but I've stayed there lots too and been woken up alot by partying as have lots of other friends of ours who wont stay there anymore...
I guess when Smoke asked about a "good" place to stay, I was trying to give him an option. Yep Don Vicente is a good and cheap for sure but can be a bad experience for some....problem is Smoke didn't really give us many details and is not a "known" Nomad...ie..I don't know what kind of guy he is or if his wife likes nice or cheap.

So it would be easier to offer good advice if we have a bit more info on what kind of place you have in mind..

i stay at Don Vincente ALL the time when traveling ...
its a businessmans motel...

no frills just a clean bed and a HOT shower
no problems there with noise
and...its half the price of Los Caracoles

i stayed at Los Caracoles and the water took 10 minutes to get hot
the office guy said that was normal...:o:o

he said there would be coffee in the morning...no coffee
there's internet in the office but...
the workers were using it:lol::lol:

i had to wait 30 minutes to have someone "check" the room to get a deposit back...the office guy "couldn't" do it
i really like to move FAST in the morning when traveling:O:O

the parking there is NOT friendly for boats or trailers
i had a hard time parking my dually
regular cars will park easily

it is newer and clean but for the extra money for JUST sleeping i don't know...i'm a tightwatt :lol:

It is good to hear both sides.... or all sides to decide... Shari, if Sirenita still works there perhaps she could share the things Bob & Susan experienced to improve conditions??

Aren't there ANY other motels we could hear about... Like the Malarrimo or Dunas or ???

I have stayed at the El Morro many times. Good parking (though not boat friendly in terms of getting in/out/turning around with a trailer), clean and simple, and inexpensive. Has a restaurant which is good but not great. I have also stayed at the Malarrimo - some of the rooms are much nicer than others (the rooms with a loft are great for kids), the food is great (the major attraction), the bar is good, and the internet is free in the bar. The rooms are a little overpriced, hard to come by during whale season without reservations.

Tried Los Caracoles once and they treated us very, very rudely when we asked about our dogs---a simple no would have been OK, but they were VERY rude. Won't go back with or without dogs.

Used to stay at Don Vicentes and never experienced any of the different night time activity, but Don Vicente changes personality a lot regarding the dogs.

So now we stay at Las Ballenas near the El Morro on the side street. There is a sign on the main road. It is family owned by a very nice family. It is basic, but quiet, clean, friendly and always plenty of hot water. It is around $30.00-- and they have an internet cafe nextdoor---same family.

Dunas was $22/night last year. Very clean but spartan. Enclosed courtyard with attended entrance gives sense of security. It's the 'motel 6' of GN. No restaurant. No internet access.

Stayed at Los caracoles beginning of April. Not overly impressed for the money. Very tight parking, service leaves lots to be desired. Was cold with no heat in the room.
Sorry Shari !! Overrated.:(

I have stayed at Los Carcoles about 16 times over the last 2 years. Hot water has always been instantaneous.

Don't know what happened, we always have coffee about 6 am.

True sometimes, but they will always give up their seat if they know you want to use the Internet.

I don't understand. The office guy always checks our room immediately.

There are always a lot of trailers there. You just have to plan ahead where and how to park if you need an early morning departure.

500p at Los Caracoles. It is worth it to me just for the "no pets" policy.
