FLAN

I have seen in some previous posts that many of you have a dislike of flan.
However...I'm one of those who will drive hondreds of miles out of the way for a great flan. I even drive once a year to El Faro restaurant in Puerto Penasco just for their flan. I have offered to buy their recipe, but the chef turns me down.
I have about a dozen or so recipes in my stash, but none approximate it.
I am sure that some of you members have an old world or favorite recipe that you would like to share;D. I promise that I will try it and give you proper credit on the FOOD NETWORK.

and this is in the "Baja Road Conditions" froum because...?

Oh, I do love flan... and I recommend trying the flan served at El Taco de Huitzilopochtli, in Ensenada. Open on weekends only. Avenida de las Rosas 242 Tel. (6) 174-23-81. It is located in the far north-east corner of town.

El Taco de Huitzilopochtli

And get there before 5 pm. When the lamb (their signature "dish") is gone, so are they.

I thought it was posted on Baja Road Conditions because of what a rough road will do to a large pan of flan. Sort of like the spring breakup of the polar ice.

The best homemade flan that I have tasted is at the Hotel California in Todos Santos ....

Hola Cabo Ron!
I'll be sure and save this for when I com down to La Paz again in August.
As I stated, I'll drive hundreds of mile out of the way for a great flan, and Hotel california will be on my list.
Thanks!
