Todos Santos recommendations
Were headed to TS the first part of June and would like some input on places to eat. We are interested in quality low key places where the locals go
not high end tourist places. We love fish/shellfish and local dishes, plus fruits and veggies. Any suggestions?

We like El Zaguan, half a block from Tecolote bookstore on the main drag. Low key, moderate price, mostly locals, seafood is a
specialty,...........and the world's greatest bathroom!

I need to warn that last week the towns septic pond broke onto the beach and into the ocean... as full time resident, I wont be eating any local fish
for awhile. We have many great 'local' places to eat. Miguels', El Gardine, Buena vida.... and Zaguan. Just beware of local fish... to be ont he
safe side.

Does Resturante Carlos still exist? We ate there about 7or 8 years ago... very local... Carlos was GREAT.. wife did the cooking. Real home made
dishes.

Do be careful to check the menu and prices. I sat down for lunch in a lovely garden restaurant recently (don't remember the name) and casually
ordered the special, lobster ravioli. The ravioli was delicious and cost $35 dollars! I was the only person there and I guess now I know why.

Check this out. I have a couple or faves. But although I can't necessarily recommend the food, Restaurant Santa Monica has probably been around longer
than anything on the list. Santa Fe for Italian. beyond that, tenga cuidado.

You might want to check the dates on the posts which you respond to. Although your response was right on target, it was two years too late.

Sounds like Santa Fe. I love their lobster ravioli but I have to save for a year to go there. Everything is so fresh and most comes from their
organic garden.

Dennis- Not sure whether you are trying to protect people from themselves, but from time to time someone who doesn't have a personal agenda, will
resurrect an older thread. In my experience, it is usually someone with a business, who is trying to drum up business. In this case, when I saw the
new post, I was sincerely looking to develop new info on the restaurants in the area. Todos Santos is one of those areas in Baja that has undergone a
transition from quaint to hustlerdom. Sad to say, but in the day, it was precious.

I think Juanita's point is a good one to remember in any restaurant in baja...no matter what the date of the thread. DO ask the prices on meals
anywhere you go as you can get a nasty surprise. Once here, someone ordered abalone in a beach palapa type place that looked like it might have cheap
prices and it was $35...they were shocked...be careful ordering lobster too...it can cost $15 or $30 if you arent careful and ask first...better safe
than sorry and broke!

All Taco stands!! Mi Costa is often overlooked and mostly Mexicano--very good! Zaguan recently re opened and Santa Monica has been closed 10 years!
Miguel's --claro que si! Luckily you didn't order wine with your Lobster Ravioli! I hate it when I hear "if you have to ask, you can't afford it." Very
mellow now in the off season. Buen Provecho!! Tio
