laws pertaining to quads
I am retiring soon and plan to winter somewhere between Loreto and Santa Rosalia. Can anyone tell me the laws regarding quads or direct me to such
information?

I doubt Baja has any written law for ATVs and would be treated like any other motor vehicle concerning speed and reckless driving. Most people just
ride them off the hwy. Many cities like San Felipe require a helmet. I suggest you check with the local police and see what they say. My experience
riding off road motorcycles in Baja has been if you don't act stupid the police won't bother you.

Well, you will hear that riding on the beach is illegal... but, unless you want to race up and down the beach in front of private homes or hotels...
to cruise around and not bother anyone is the way to go.
Obviously on dirt roads, no laws apply... Even though you will see people (locals) using them on the street and highway, they are not designed or
licensed for pavement.
Enjoy yourself and don't irritate others...

In Mulege they use them like cars. They are much more comfortable driving the narrow streets in town. The police don't seem to pay any attention. Of
course that could change pretty fast if some idiot goes through town popping wheelies.

They go everywhere in San Felipe, but the police do enforce the helmet laws.

Passengers from the cruise ships ride them for Ensenada to La Bufadora...on the highways. They are all wearing helmets. Special vehicle license
required maybe?

I live in Loreto and ride an ATV around town every day. I don't think I've ever seen anybody on an ATV in Loreto wearing a helmet. If there are laws
about registration of ATV's I am not aware of them.
