Large Eastcape development called Cabo Cortes?

I spent yesterday in La Paz and picked up a couple of Gringo Gazettes which are kind of like a black market item here in Loreto. anyway in the April 28 edition I see a disturbing story about a new megadevelopment that will be called
Cabo Cortes.

They plan a huge desalination plant and they intend to discharge waste (salmuera) right into the SOC just 2 KM frrom the Cabo Pulmo Marine Park but according to these developers "that ocean currents would take the water [waste] North toward La Ribers where it will quickly dilute to regular sea water"

there was a public hearing in SJC held by SEMARNAT.

anyone down that way hear about that meeting and how it went? also anyone familiar with the currents down there know if acceptable dilution can indeed take place?

anyone have any idea who the hell is actually buying into all of these megadevelopments? I am of the opinion that there are not enough comsumers to sell all of the proposed units to be planned. I really do not wish to see scores or hundreds of partially completed projects all over BC and BCS.

This one is after the rich and famous >>> marina, big airport for jets, 20,000 homes, golf (of course), 2.3 Billion with a B dollars with a D. I'm afraid they have made the same studies down here that they made in Loreto: ZED,ZERO,ZIP so nobody knows where the salt will go, what it will do. My evil twin is now hoping oil will go to $300 dollars a barrel and give them all cause to rethink the future. If I want salty fish I just order anchovies on my pizza thanks.

Is this old news?...I'm not sure...Anyway check out this website:

www.bajacaliforniameetingpoint.com

When you get there hit "enter" and look in the lower right under
"Conferences". Select "See More" to see other conferences. Select "Terrapin" to get a .ppt on Baja delevopments. Also check out the Conference titled "Baja MP" by Towle.

The old days of trailer parks are fast disappearing.

Looks like Spanish developers at Cabo Cortes...maybe alot of Euro investment coming to Baja Sur??

many reports and discussions about this one from one of the guys who lives at El rincon, on the BBP site.
yes, its people who are into S&M..........Spaniards and Mexicans. ;^)

too bad if they take out the close by pista but they plan a new airport too for the owners like Las Arenas is doing.

and i see something in the offing for Los Frailes area land.
good time to buy. prices are low for now, that's gonna change. They aren't making any more "east cape".

Looked at that website and I've heard of this meeting before from last fall. I guess I just can't believe most of the grandiose plans proposed as being successful in real life. This is real estate and investment promotion and while its good to see what they're up to, it wasn't what I was wanting to know.

The news I posted on was in the GG pretty recently and it was new news to me. Interestingly enough I also have the newest edition and just finished reading a story about the horribly problematic waste water treatment facility and happenings in San Jose del Cabo. Read that story Loretanos and East Capians because this is that the bajacaliforniameetingpoint think tank has planned for your future!

in case you have no way of seeing the story I refer to its in the GG May12 edition on page17 titled "Sewer Problem In San Jose Worsens" and here is an exerpt:

"The treatment plant is so out of control that early morning risers can take a nice stroll anywhere along the ocean, in the Hotel Zone, and expect their sandled feet will be sprayed with effluent while they will inhale the fetid odor of excrement, mixed with just a hint of construction dust."

ooohhh want breakfast out on the balcony today honey?

Trailer park, don't think so, isn't gas like $4/gallon? The RV business has crashed and burned here.

Last time we were in La Paz (early March), we were amazed and amused at all the development projects being hustled. The amazing part is the grandeur and scale, as well as the price. The amusing part is that anyone actually believes that they will all get built.

I look at La Ribera and see the marina plan and the golf course plan and laugh. How long before these actually get built and how long will they last?

I think anyone buying on the baja has to ask themselves if they can live with the golf course being built, without it being built and with it being bankrupted. If the answer is yes to all 3 questions, then by all means by a lot on the "golf course"; otherwise, time to find somewhere else.

hi Winthy - yes did it yesterday from our emails. thx. very nice stuff planned.

pay no attention to the obvious tree huggers and baja no growth activists attacking you on the other thread.

only chicken mierda types use a computer and hide instead of dealing with people in person face to face if they have a beef.
classless behavior that's all....consider the slime, er, i mean source.

you acquited yourself admirably.
you invested in bulk beach front, there is a market, you can and want to parcel lots - so what? been going on for eons!
it's the buyer's job to make a buy decision and assess risk, not some 3rd party "real estate police" on a simpleton travel board.

Frankly i think if Means is going to invite posters to list and sell on a sub section for real estate - he himself should defend those who use it against malicious attacks from the likes of Jose Doe!

Let me ask you a question, Capt. Mike. Do you suppose the fact that you are running a mortgage dashboard stringer operation for Ray Desmond's Carefree Mortgage operation out of Hermosillo, where you get a finders fee for every fish you get on the hook to apply for a mortgage with them has any impact on your objectivity here?

no, not at all.

i frankly think free enterprize is a good thing.
the man has lots for sale and simply listed an ad here where it is available as a resource.
who made you the caveat emptor police? people can do their own due diligence.

you're like a Gladys Kravitz. you should mind your own biz. your attack simply was not necessary and added nothing but spite and hate mongering.

i'm done with this one. whatever you come back with will not be retorted since you are evidently a non entity in my realm.

and no, i have not done any mortgages for his or other properties on the east cape - but i would like to, sure.
:rolleyes::rolleyes:
