Adios from Campo Colegio de los Gauchos

In all likelihood, this will be my last post from my jobsite at Saddleback College in Alta California. I am literally walking out the door and into retirement after 2 months shy of 30 years here.

Our initial travels will take us to Colorado for some preparation for our ultimate move to the State of Sonora. We expect to be based out of San Carlos by mid July.

I guess this means my participation on the subject of Baja will diminish tremendously. I've also discontinued internet access at home (there is virtually nothing that hasnt been sold off anyway) so a period of silence is likely.

And, of course, the OFF TOPIC area is really not suited to supplying info about the mainland............BTW, what ever became of that idea of allowing posts related to the mainland in it's own separate area?

Anyway, my wife and I look forward (with some trepidation) to the challenges of living in a trailer while building SOMETHING on our lot; challenges that may of you have been through. We hope to share the ins and outs of fideicomisos, banking, bartering, b-tching, etc. from our mainland perspective.....subject to the wishes of Doug and Hose A.

And as far as fishing goes, well, the same fish that swim by Baja also swim by the mainland so they are fair game and fair for discourse on Nomads as well. We'll provide some private boaters reports from over here in the fishing section.

We're hoping that within a year, we might be available as a stop for Nomads on their way south of the Guaymas/SC area. We'll let the board know when this might be possible.

Hasta la escrita, amigos, if that's a phrase. Another chapter in our lives is about to begin.

Congratulations! I bet that is going to be a weird feeling, walking out of your job place for the last time. I did it after 20 years in the same place, 30 years is quite a stint.

Good luck, safe travels and I will be looking for your name to pop up here with tales from your new life when ever you get the chance.

Saludos!

Hook...sorry to see you go (off the board). Hope you post some more. Really appreciated your reasoned postings. Enjoy retirement in San Carlos. We sometimes sail up from La Paz, nice community! Hope you finally got that ham license, if not get it from the US and have reciprocal license in Mexico. Hope to talk to you and the ham bands. Best of everything!
