8 dead in TJ-Rosarito in past few hours

Three are still burning in a car on Boulevard 2000 just outside of Rosarito.

What a shame that this civic improvement that was supposed to bring more prosperity and improvement to the infrastructure of Tijuana has just become a dumping ground for the gangsters.

New Jersey, anyone?

What is this with the fireing .... don't they ever bring these guys up on charges ??? These corrupt cops need to see the inside of a prison , as it is they are released, walk across the street and sign up with the mob.

I always wondered about the firings without charges and thought the same thing. Now they just work full time for the mob. Something is very fishy.

That's fifty more full time crooks available for the narcos to hire tomorrow. Is this the same housecleaning as last Decembers sweep of Rosarito Beachs police or is this the new, smarter and better trained ones (or their trainers)going corrupt in five short months?

I didn't see any smoke on the blvd 2000 early this afternoon. I was riding my dirt bike on the side roads today and had a great view of it. I am always on the look out for body parts amongst all the trash though.

The prosecutors basically let them go if they are caught at all. They kill the families of the prosecutors first- then torture and kill the prosecutors. Too many decades of organized, institutionalilzed corruption. There's no shame in Mexico.

So come on down to Rosarito folks where Mayor Torres is still waiting out in front of the visitor center handing out fliers for his new condo-hotel expansion! (He's the man behind the twelve bodyguards.) The new tourist police still don't speak english and now I know why I haven't seen any of the 200 volunteers they swore in to assist touists!

Nope, not when the source is provided! Just appreciate facts not rumors... more accurate that way I think Ferna...

Here is the poor Internet translation of whhat Fulano posted:

TIJUANA. - Three people were executed does a little while, their bodies are in a vehicle in flames to meters of Rosarito, on Boulevard 2000. The information was confirmed by the Secretariat of State Public Security, that mentioned that they are of masculine sex. With them the list of people who were executed in the last hours, among them would add 8 two youngsters. The first data refer that these people went in the unit in flames, they left and them near Rosarito, on Boulevard 2000, to meters of Rosarito. "

What's interesting to me are the comments of the newspaper readers: "Well, three more bad guys out of the way!"

In general (though obviously not ALWAYS), the people who are killed are tied up in drug trafficking and crime, so the prevailing attitude of the people lately seems to be "good riddance."

There were two young women (18 - 25 years old) found executed today as well, and that's not the norm, so I'm curious to find out the story there.

Gun Fire

At about 1:30 am on May 19, there was massive gunfire just outside the Popotla Mobilehome Park, Km 34 south of Rosarito. A local resident was stopped going to work in the US, and saw a bullet riddled Van and one dead person laying in the road who was supposedly the passenger. The Federal Police has another man (the driver) outside the van at gunpoint. The shooting lasted several minutes and was heard by most Popotla Park residents. Nothing has been seen in any of the newspapers, local or San Diego. Does anyone have any information on this incident.

Gunfire is getting too common around here.

There wiil be no news printed about any crimes in tourist areas until after Labor Day. Not even the news of 50 Rosarito police being fired yesterday made the San Diego paper. Wouldn't want to scare the US Open visitors in San Diego from taking that trip to PN for half a deep fried frozen lobster.

I don't' know if you guys know this, but Google puts out a Mexican verson of its news. It's what I read. It is not American news in Spanish, it is a collection of news from Mexican news sources, so you get a different slant on what is going on:

http://news.google.com/news?ned=es_mx

If you just search on "Tijuana", "Rosarito" and "Ensenada", you'll get most of the news. The American papers pick up very little of this. Sometimes you have to read several different articles on the same subject to ferret out what really happened. Mexican news sources tend to print a lot of chismes.

Looks like the final body count this weekend was 9.

10 dead over weekend in Tijuana area

Two young women shot execution-style are among the victims in the seven incidents, some apparently unrelated to drug warfare, according to Mexican police.
By Richard Marosi
Los Angeles Times Staff Writer

June 10, 2008

SAN DIEGO — Ten people were killed between Saturday and Monday, including two young women and a police officer, as the Tijuana area suffered its worst bout of violence since an April shootout that killed 13 gunmen, Baja California authorities said.

Most of the seven incidents did not appear directly related to the Mexican government's offensive against organized crime, which has claimed more than 170 lives this year in Tijuana.

The two women's deaths were the exception. Their bodies were discovered Sunday morning on a hillside in eastern Tijuana. They had been shot execution-style with large-caliber bullets, the kind typically used by drug cartel gunmen, according to the attorney general's office.

The women, both believed to be in their 20s, have not been identified, and police did not have a motive in the case.

Authorities said the municipal police officer, Gustavo Salas Reyes, a 16-year veteran, was shot after an argument in a bar early Sunday morning. Two men died Saturday night in separate incidents, including one at a taco stand slain in a drive-by shooting, authorities said.

On Sunday, police discovered the bodies of three suspected car thieves on a Rosarito Beach hillside. Two more people were killed Monday, but little information was available on those cases.

No arrests had been made in any of the slayings, authorities said.

They probably use a template to report the news. Something like this:

"This ____________ (morning, afternoon, evening), _______ bodies were discovered found lying _______ (in, at, around) the area known as __________. _______ had been shot execution style with __________
( large caliber weapons, small caliber weapons, slingshots, bow and arrow) while the other ______ had been ______________ (stabbed, run over, drunk, beaten, hung, drowned). Police are investigating and fully cooperating with Federal Authorities as they suspect the dead were ____________ (drug cartel members, touristas, policemen, officials, time share hawkers). No known suspects have been identified and the motive(s) is/are not known either but police suspect __________ (foul play, a drug deal gone bad, loud mouth tourists, time share hawkers, a really bad accident.). Further details will be made known _____________ (once we get all the facts, once we are told what the facts are, once we make up the facts). "

That way it's a lot easier to report these __________ (heinous, morbid, scary, frightening) news reports.

You have created a classic post.

It defines the insanity from both sides.

The constant drum beat of the war on drugs and the constant need for birdcage liner to be passed of as news.
