Rosarito Beach HARDCORE 4x4 Event Pix!!

On Friday, I drove to Tijuana and stayed over at Chris' place in Soler.
I made a fast trip to the Estetica where I got my hair cut for $5 US and
Chris' family cooked up some excellent food for dinner. Then, I went to
the supermercado with son Noeh, picked up supplies for the fun 2 days
at the RETO HARDCORE 4x4 event in Rosarito Beach. There were an
estimated 3,000 people, 600 cars, drag races, competition rock crawling,
and vendors ranging from Club Iggys to Estrella Cerveza, to auto parts,
Monster Energy drink, Taboo Gentleman's club, some Mom & Pop taco
shops where out in full-force, as were the little ice cream carts. This
was one of the best times I have ever had south of the border, and
here's why.....

The morning of the event at Chris' house in Soler:

Chris' daughter Nayelli and I standing with Chris' Ford Explorer:

Chris' wife Miriam and her mother Elvira:

Myself and Chris & Miri's son Noeh - Chris' spotter and event staff:

The trench was filled with gallons of water and turned into a mud trench. This swallowed vehicles whole, and made for a spectators delight!

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Oh, I loved every minute of it. The place was a circus as the day wore on. The police who were sent to patrol the event were just kicking back, looking at the ladies, and drinking! I even got the police to wave on camera, so you'll see them smiling as they're walking around, with thankfully, not much work to do...

They all were stuck. It was a tough course, and body damage was the norm. But, everyone had a fun and that's what it was all about.

Here's the last of the photos:

I did not have a chance to stick around long enough on Sunday to see who won the prize, but last year, Danish transplant Tom was the winner, and he came this year simply to observe.

I meant to ask....... about those suspenders......... are they functional? Most gals wear their garters elsewhere!:bounce:

This looks like a fog pileup on I-5 in Bakersfield!

Machismo, pure and simple. "I have the toughest, most capable 4WD at the event. Nobody can touch mine!" is the thinking behind parking your rig for people to stare at. Your 4WD better have real huevos in order to do this sort of thing, otherwise, it isn't capable like what you see at these rock crawling events.
